Well it finally happened. I have finally, totally lost my mind. True it has taken a while to get here, but...........I am in love with grey turds! Especially the big ones.

Can't really say when or how it happened, it just did. I have had several Sebenza's in the past few years and always ended up selling them for one reason or another. Always would regret it afterwards, but then go on and forget about it.

At this years Blade Show I snapped. I remember asking N.C. Blades where the best deals were on Sebenza's, then remembered seeing CRK's booth. Off I went. Talked to Chris Reeve for awhile and handled several of the large Sebenza's he had. Discussed computer graphics on the handles and wood inlays.

It was about then that I spied the wood inlay large Sebenza along the bottom shelf. BEAUTIFUL piece of ironwood, my favorite wood by the way, on the 2001 Sebenza. I couldn't get the cash out fast enough. From there I walked around with a goofy grin on my face, happy as a little young'un at Christmas!

I have now traded for another large Sebenza, a 1999 NIB model with the factory satin finish and dual thumb studs. I am still happy as can be over my two newest knives.

I honestly can't remember being this excited or as happy about a knife purchase as I have been with these. I have examined every square mm of each one and can find not a single flaw. The precision is simply amazing. The edge on both were hair popping sharp. Opening and closing a joy. Lockup is totally outstanding. The best thing is I have carried both, not at the same time of course, and not worried about it. That is something for me.

I had an oppurtunity to buy one of several customs in Atlanta and I kept comming back to the Sebenza. I know the precision should be there from the way they are constructed. Tolerances should be tighter than most any other folder out there, factory or custom. CRK accomplishes this in fine fashion, and to me at least builds a beauty of a folder. Of course beauty is in the eye of the beholder!
Don't take this as a knock on any other knife out there. I just suddenly begin to appreciate a knife that has been around for a decade and a half.

As always, this is just one man's opinion. Yours may differ.

The Sebenza's are very nice. I have a couple and really appreciate the fit and finish. Personally I would rather have a custom. The Sebenza just isn't very comfortable to me. The handles could stand to have a little more curve to them.

The wood inlay model fits the hand better as the wood sticks out from the handle just a bit and is rounded a bit.

BTW, when the wife cleaned up the computer desk, guess what she found? Yep an envelope addressed to Dennis! It is now officially in the hands of the USPS!

Sebenza addiction is a very dangerous thing. At least that's what my wife tells me!

I know what you mean. I just got my first Sebenza about 3 weeks ao and I'm already saving up for another one.

They are very fine blades!

Art,

I too feel your pain!

You should have traded the Cougar for a TNT!!

I got my first TNT last weekend and my three Sebenzas are headed for the trading block... Including the decorated one!!

Nothing wrong with a Sebenza, BUT...

Glad the deal for the Cougar worked out...

Michael,
Just something about the total precision of the Sebenza that floats my boat! Add the wood inlay models and I am a gonner. I know they are not true customs by some standards, but I enjoy them anyways. I will eventually get a TNT, but it will have to be one with a steel blade. I am totally ANAL about having a knife with some weight to it. Even the Sebenza could be heavier for my tastes.

SIFU, I understand about getting a deal. Just can't pass those up sometimes. If you ever get a chance to get a woody you will not be dissapointed!

Now you are talking my language. I could handle somw BG-42 or any of the others. A TNT just may be in my future quicker than I thought!

Let me know how the cat shoots when you get a chance to fire a few.

Good that you finally resigned to your passion. Same thing happened to me with Browning HiPowers a few years back.
