So today was the first chance I've had all year to get out on a trial; yes I know it's sad but true. Anyway, I brought most of the family along with me. The 14 because I always cary it, the 2 and 9 mostly because I wanted to try out the sheaths on the trail, and I must say that they were great. The Eli sheath for the 9 was bearly noticable sitting on my back under my pack, and the drop leg sheath I made for the 2, well it didn't move much at all and I forgot it was there most of the time.

Pictures, I know pictures, well here ya go. :D

(new image hoster and since I don't know how to use it this is what you get.)

MW, good shots. Anytime you can put a good looking fishing lake in a valley surrounded by a forest, it's a good day . . . .
Beautiful area to be able to get out and about on, looks like a good place to reduce some daily stress as well.
Thanks for letting us tag along.
Be safe.

Hey MWTIC, really cool pics. I used to live not far from there. I guess about 40 or 50 miles north in Carnation, WA. Had my first wedding party dinner at Snoqualmie Falls Lodge overlooking the falls. Used to go hiking and four-wheelin' everywhere up in there, from Snoqualmie Pass up north to Stevens Pass, to the Wenatchee and Baker Mt. National Forests, man I loved that area. Learned how to weld in an apprentice program at Pacific Car and Railroad down in Renton. Drove logging trucks for awhile for contractors of Weyerhaeuser east of Carnation at the base of the Cascades from Monroe to Snoqualmie.

When GW and I decided to leave LA after the Rodney King riots in '91/'92, I almost had her talked into going back to WA. She hates rain though, so we headed South instead. Turns out our torrential downpours beats your almost constant mist/light rain by about 12 -15 inches a year though! I hate moving as much as she hates rain though, so we stayed. Pretty well planted here now, but man, those pics sure brought back some cool memories. Thanks for 'em.

Gotta love it here in the NW. Still haven't been to Rattlesnake though.. Been stuck on hwy 2 trails lately. :)

ETA: That's 8 mile lake in my avatar. Just heard there is a mudslide that closed the road to that trailhead a few days ago...

Beautiful scenery my friend. Looks like a great time.

Fantastic pictures! I got a good laugh when I saw your screen name for the first time. I should have made mine My Mom Thinks Im Crazy....

Thanks guys! It really was a beautiful hike. I'm really looking forward to hiking more this summer, and that means more pix from me. Next weekend I'm going to take my 4y/o son camping. I'll try my best to take some pix, but my wife is taking our camera with her on a trip back east so they might be crappy phone pix.

I know Carnation. I use to live in Monroe; I graduated from there actually. We use to go up the logging roads around that area and drink all night. It's just too nice around these parts for me to want to leave. I've lived in other parts of the country and been to at least a dozen other countries, and only one other place comes clost to WA IMO and that was Ireland.

I don't know why everyone thinks we get soooo much rain up here. FL gets more than we do EVERY year :) but shhhhh don't tell anybody ;)

beautiful! is the sheath you made for the 9 easy to get the knife in and out of?

That sheath was incredible on the trail. First no one even noticed the 9 on my back (mostly because the pack covered it and you could barely see the handle), but it might have been because I also had my 2 on my leg. I was very happy with how both the sheaths worked for me. The 9 easily came out of the sheath like always, but putting it back in proved to be easier with my pack on.

nick425 where are do you live? I'm in Arlington.

Your s/n is cool how it is!! :)

Thanks MWTIC lol. I just stole my dad's and added the Jr on the end. He got his s/n because his truck has a manual transmission and a manual shift transfer case and they are two different sticks in the cab. Thus, TwinStick.

That comment came from TwinStick Jr... we are having some more technical difficulties over here. lol

What kinda truck is it? I wanted to get a 1969 Chevy 4 speed 4x4 (two sticks also), but I ended up getting a 1971 auto 4x4. It's still a cool truck, but I wanted a 4 speed.

It's gonna get confusing have you guys talk on each others accounts :)

I am in Bothell.

Sweet. We'll have to head out some time.

thanks for sharing

My pleasure. :)

super cool pics... pics like these make me miss the left coast :D

you didn't throw your knives at any trees did you?? :)

I'd miss it here too :D

Not these ones. I do have a couple set for throwin though. ;)

It is a 2008 Dodge PowerWagon. Its one of like 8 trucks set up like that with the stick shift, its pretty rare.

Looks like a good time Nick. Glad you are getting out there and enjoying nature a little. At the end of the day, I think that is why the majority of us are here, tools to use on our adventures outside. Good times brother!
