My Project II is going in for an overhaul after ten years plus hard graft. I think it is No:9.

As I couldn't live without it I have gone and bought a Project I. This is as good as it gets in my book and the one I have always had that niggling feeling that I should have bought first. Now I have it, I'm reasured that the little additional weight at the front end will be well worth it in the long run. The PII did everything it was asked of, but I can see, after so many years, just where the PI has an advantage.

Gone mad, I also bought a Shadow MKIII. Its intended use is as a fixed folder. First impresion is: "What a small knife it really is". I've handle one several times and still have not got my head round its size especially when next to its big brothers. But I bought it as a fixed folder not a hunting/survival blade, and it is a cute package with that CR quality/reliability, which is exactly what I wanted. The sheath is up to the job but this knife cries out for a little Kydex pocket/neck sheath. Just a blade slip so that I can drop it into my shooting coat.

For your interest, I can't see myself carry both knives at the same time. The PI would always be my first choise when going out into the ouloo. However, its a bit too much when out in polite society; when you are only out and about at home not far from your tool box. This is when the Shaddow III comes in: tougher than a folder, small package, and soo keen an edge.
Why not a Sebenza or folder other than the obviouse? Its because I tend to do quite a bit of digging in the dirt with my knives. Thats why I like a spear point, and a fixed blade is so much easier to wipe down.

I'll do a full report in the future. findings another time.

Greenjacket,

I enjoyed your thoughts on the PII as given in Cliff Stamps in depth review of the PI in the Review Forum awhile back.

If your findings on the Shadow III end up over in Reveiws, be sure and post a note here and let us know so we won't miss it.
