At the beginning of next week I'll be gone to Texas for a week, then on to OK for several more days. I won't be back at station until July 5th. I'm letting you know so we won't have threads popping out like, "Who Killed Munk and What Are We Going To Do About It?"

This place runs itself, and Yvsa, Yangdu and Howard are around on the rare occasion there's a disturbance in the Force.

Wish me luck in Texas, looking for the Western Diamondback, the Transpecos Copperhead....well, actually, whatever I find. The desert around the Big Bend is the one in the US I've never seen. Talking my wife into going neccesitated a tradeoff- I have to drive to the beach afterwards. Perhaps a Hurricane will arrive to change plans....

Ummmm,
-That- will be me after Munk pisses me off after the Umpteenth Hundred Millionth time. :p ;) :D

And as far as what we're gonna do about it... Well, I suppose we could all stand around and piss up a rope. I'll be at the top of the ten story building holding the upper end so I won't get peed on.:p ;)

I am sometimes noted as a patient sumbitch with my really good friends.;) :D

We're really looking forward to finally meeting up with Munk. At last we will be able to put a face with the words.
Personally I have Munk pictured as a baby faced round little feller with no ass to hold his belt up so he has to wear suspenders. <VBESEG>
And that's why everyone oughta post a pic of themselves. Left to our own imaginations we can be very dangerous.
Barb says she doesn't have an image but I know she's not telling the truth on this one. Barb always forms an image. :D

If I'm able at all and can stand the damned heat long enough I'd like to take our friend Munk out on a snake hunt down at my old Stomping Grounds. Maybe he could get to see a Real Live Cotton-Mouth Water Mocassin, if'en his nose be good enough he'll be able to smell the damned thing before he sees it. ;-)

stop by if you're in the area, munk. Or I could make a trip to Yvsa's....

If you come close to Houston give me a ring. Big Bend is gorgwous. Have fun!
Terry

Yvsa, I'll now never get that picture of Munk out of my mind.LOL

I had the best omelette and the worst drive of my life in Texas - no kidding.

In the summer of '01 I was passing through north Texas on my way to San Diego and stopped at a Mexican resteraunt for breakfast. My ham and cheese omelette featured real ham, warm tortillas on the side (something that I still enjoy with breakfast), and my choice of red or green chile. Chile? Ah, they must mean salsa. I've tried red, let's have the green. Spicy, but very good.

I'm out of town and back on the highway, and not ten minutes later my midsection is making sounds that I'd never heard before. Then came the cramps. About the time that I began to sweat I passed a sign proclaiming that the next rest area was a mere fifty miles away.

I got that old Cressida up to 110 miles per hour. Long story short, I made it, but it was a very close thing.

Enjoy Texas, Munk, but watch the green chile.

Actually I went to Big Bend a 2 years ago to check the area out. I had applied for a job there as a Law Enforcemnt/Park Ranger, didn't get the job but what a beautifull area. Have fun munk and company. Two big thumbs up.

On the east side of Tejas not far from the Louisana border there's a town called Longview.
Wanna know why? Because the sumbitch is one story high and forty freakin miles long!!!!
Try running that road in a '78 Gremlin with no AC and a styrofoam cooler with 10 pounds of heads on shrimp in it that has a leak. Do this in July when it's really hot. Smelled like Mabel's Mobile Cathouse while driving and was worse when you stopped to eat. People would look at us funny for 20 minutes after we got out of the car, headin back you had to kick the cats outta the damned way, all wanting a free shrimp dinner.:grumpy:

Good news was that we were able to keep enough ice on the shrimp so that they didn't ruin on the way back. Too damned tired to clean 'em when we got in on a Sunday night so threw them in the bathtub with several bags of chopped ice and cleaned 'em when we got home from work the next day.
We enjoyed the hell outta those shrimp I tell you!!!! :D

Longview?

I lived there, weekdays, for about two years. Pizza guy knew my motel room.

Nice folks. But, unless they knew about how your grandfather acted up in third grade, you were "new."

Whattaburger.

Spring Hereford calves...nothing prettier.

Soil so poor that roadside litter grew better grazing.

Pine pollen, yellow, thick, ubiquitous.

Poor, many devoutly religious, folks, with a smattering of yahoos, bubbas, and in-breds.

Hot, humid, relentless weather.

A gremlin? Sheez. I had a gremlin. If it rained three hundred miles away, the gremlin lost traction.

And we both like the old Volvos, gettin to be a lot of coincidences here Kis.;)

I had a Gremlin when I lived in Lawton, OK...must have been 1973 or so. It was a neat little car. I had the larger of the two engines offered (have forgotten the specifics already after only 30 or so years) and it flat out moved on dry roads. It also had the concept of cargo space. The rear seats were put down the day I picked it up and never went back up...loved the hatch and cargo space and have pretty much (except for my Trans Am in 78) stayed with something offering such a pre-SUV feature ever since.

When the Gremlins first came out with their little V-8 I wanted to build a Rod outta one.:o
I figured a blower sticking outta the hood with 15" wide slicks and Drag Pipes, you know the chrome ones that ran down the doorsills, on it and "Dagoed" with the ass end raised in the air about a foot would be really cool, still do in fact. ;) :D
Of course if you had any horses at all you'd definitely need wheelie bars on it.

I recall seeing one of the little foreign jobbers one time, the little European Ford I think it may have been, in a Rod Mag fitted with a big V-8 and wheelie bars.
I got too see the car close up in a small town in SoCal one day when we were out driving around.
Cute little thing that would really go, those wheelie bars were really cute, although fully necessary and functional!!!! :D  :D

I'm leaving today. My beloved khuks locked up in the safe. Thanks to the multiple airline transfers I'll be undergoing, I'm leaving all self defense weapons behind because there's too much hassle and risk of loss. Thank you to modern civilization, which regulates the Second Amendment out of existence, and will never had to address it directly in Court.

(course, give it enough time, and it will address it in court. And win- sporting usefulness added to our 'living' Constitution. Read- the bill of rights is whatever the current generation thinks it is, and that's manufactured consent. Noam Chomsky had that right, he was just too radical left to see it works all ways. )

No offense, but have you considered plastic or reconstructive surgery? It's a wonder what they can do nowadays.

You should see what I look like when I wake up in the morning.

Munk,

Watch out for that durned Brazo's. I hear they think life is cheap around there...

when he gets zapped again this time, i'll be ready:

email sent on the kumar hanshee
email sent on the widow

he made me give them back last time, even tho his wife had to be dragged out screaming, guess another trip in one of them little triangular boxes didn't set to well with her......

we ought to concede the m1a1 to yvsa as we'll need a good shot to take care of the perp if there is one.

munk, y'all take care, we don't want anything too drastic to happen, no body parts come loose or anything needs sewing back on again, last time yer fingers kept coming off & we ran out of superglue. since y'ain't got no sharp pointy things with ya, howsa bout fakin' a limp and carrying a nice shilleleigh, er - walkin stick that is.....

Which khuk would you choose if you needed to "Do Something" about Munk getting killed off....... :D

Have a good trip. Enjoy the desert - wouldn't be my first choice this time of year, but I'm always for land that makes you visit on its terms.
