I was just purusing the web and came along a page for a knife company that has decided to stop selling knives due to the terrorist act last week. They also urge all other internet knife companies to stop selling knives as well.

Just thought it was interesting and wanted to hear what others have to say...

If you owned a company called Acme Knife, would you stop carrying knives???

Sooner or later this was bound to happen...

I urge Everyone as I did and e-mail Acme and let them know you stand behind them and urge them Not to buckle....

All of our freedoms are at stake here!!

Here is what I wrote...

Dear Acme Knife...

As a respected member of the knife community I understand the feeling that must be going on inside of you. I feel them to, I think all of us do...

What happened in New York and Washington is Yes Tragic to say the least, but it is not something that you, I or any respectable knife dealer can or could control.

We must insist that our freedoms on knife usage in world is still a respectable and honored tradition, a way of life and for many of us, like yourself our income. We must stand together on this fight that will no doubt be upon us soon, the knife carrying, law abiding citizens of the world.

I urge you to reconsider your stand however noble it may be. Continue to promote the safe, Responsible usage of knives in out society. You owe that to all of your customers and all of us that hold our freedoms so dear to our hearts.

Don't buckle under the mentality of a knife less society is safer than what we have now. Our freedoms are Far more important...

Guess this means it is time to throw away all of my kitchen knives. I will now purchase only food that can be eaten raw or spooned out of a can (although those deadly can lids will need to be re-designed).

There you go, that'll do the trick- putting yourself out of business will certainly curb terrorism. Please, shut your doors & encourage others to do the same. I suppose your severence check drawn on the Bank of Kabul should cover any upcoming expenses...

What you have here is an exercise in abject stupidity. A picture-perfect portrayal of the liberal mindset. These type of people need to be taken out, and shot in the head. They are a cancer. They're more of a danger to our freedom than the terrorists are.
You want to know what's wrong with our country? There's a start, right there. Another idiot blaming and labeling inanimate objects.

Remember, hijackers didn't commandeer those planes, knives did:barf:

I cannot respect anyone who subscribes to the leftist mentality that says, "Gosh, people hijacked planes with boxcutters. I guess I'd better not sell any knives to anyone."

This is the same logic that says, "Gosh, some people commit crimes with guns. I guess I'd better not sell guns to anybody."

Certainly individual dealers are free to go into other lines of work. But if they're capable of wrongly assigning blame to inanimate objects or the public at large for the crimes of terrorists, they ought not have been selling knives in the first place.

Decisions of this type do a disservice to the law-abiding public. The owner has decided that I cannot be trusted with a Kasper/Polkowski Companion because he now believes knives themselves are evil. That's fine -- but if he can make that leap he never should have sold them to begin with. What did he think the Companion was for?

I'll say it again: this is pathetic. In the words of the thread title, it goes too far. And it's worse that the owner is actively encouraging other sites to refuse to sell knives; he is, in effect, advocating total prohibition of knives because of the activities of a criminal minority.

This man has taken a stand in opposition to my civil rights. He gets no respect from me.

We should also start opening boxes with screwdrivers or nail clippers, since boxcutters were the sole cause of Tuesday's tragedies. I am going to let my beard grow, since I believe I shouldn't have the right to own razors. After all, a terrorist might break into my apartment and confiscate these items to facilitate another terrorist act.

I don't know if I would buy something from a place called ACME to begin with.

The idea behind this attack (I refuse to call it terroristic, because this is no longer terrorism, it's an act of war) is to make the economic market in America unstable. The best way to help these barbarians ( I'm still doubting if they still deserve the title of human, they certainly are not worthy to be called animal) is by closing down, go to the bank and get your money and stop all your business. If everyone did that.... I think you know the results all too well from classes of history. That is excactly what the attackers want.

Do you seriously want to help them?
If you have something against knives, what do you do with guns? forks? axes? shovels?

No seriously.. things like this are only justified for personal reasons.. if he feels he's responsible in some way, he's got the right to close down. but if he thinks he's doing something good for the rest of the world... nope.

And urging other knifesite to do the same is plain wrong and unjustified.

How do you want to stop someone carrying a G-10 knife? I made a G-10 pushdagger to prove to local authorities that it is impossible to detect such a knife by metal detectors. Then i tested the pushdagger on a Dummy chest covered with thick leather. It made quit a hole, and repetively. They were amazed, but also shocked. i just proved to them that the only way to prevent weapons going on the passengerdeck is by frisking everyone very carefully.

I understand and agree for the most part of what you guys are saying... It definately is a problem...

What I'm saying is that he needs to be re-educated to why he became a knife dealer in the first place.. For the love of knives or just for profit...?

Definately this Sheeple mentality bothers all of us.. It's not good for the industry nor is it good for our freedoms...

It will be a serious problem for all of us in the upcoming months and years...

I'm stunned! The logic here makes no sense.

By way of example: I've heard that chicken bones have been known to catch in people's throats and kill them. Alright, all grocery stores stop selling chicken! They can be used by terrorists to kill Americans.

Come on. We’re talking “box cutters here.” The media is not talking about commando knives. They’re not talking about tactical folders. Not one mention about automatic openers. Nope...just the standard box opening knife that is about as common as table knives. Someone’s concern is very misplaced.

Of course, this IS America. If they want to do this, it is their choice. In my opinion, a really, really dumb choice.

Oh, I just noticed on their site. They are “The Leader In Knife Sales.” They can’t say that any more. :)
 
Cars. I can kill someone ALOT better and quicker with MY '94 Ford Tempo than ANY knife (or gun) that I own. Should places that sell cars quit selling them?

Airplanes. Actually it WAS 3 airplanes that caused the death of all those people. Should places that sell airplanes quit selling them?

...A DUMB "knee-JERK" reaction not to sell knives anymore.:(.
