like it says i am thinking about getting a titanium military. i know its a hefty knife that wont bother me. anybody have any negatives on the knife? lock up is good? smooth opening? anything input is greatly appreciated. thanks guys

i will jus would like to hear from people who own or have owned one first. thanks

Got one yesterday and haven't been able to put it down.

The only thing that keeps it from being perfect, in my mind, is that it isn't left-handed. :)

It's certainly heavier than the standard G10-slabbed model but it's not heavy.

I got mine from Roger at Knifeworks and it's the newest iteration with the stainless lockbar insert. The blade is perfectly centered, it opened a little roughly the first couple of times but it's smoothing out. (I haven't hit it with compressed air and/or lube yet so that'll help smooth it out too.)

Today will be the first full day of carry and use but I can see this one being very, very hard to bump from EDC for me.

EDIT: There are some good videos on YouTube if you search for "Spyderco Titanium Military."

Thanks Brian! Yea I've watched all the videos on it I could find. I have a real problem researching things before I buy lol.

I'm stuck between this and the Bradley alias 1. Only thing that worries me on the alias is how high the blade sits up in the handle. I'm worried lockup won't be to tight on the alias.

Seriously, in the run of the mill EDC role what would lead you to reasonably believe that lock would fail?
Don't you think if it were likely, it would have already happened and we'd have threads all over about it?
Keep in mind, a Ti framelock is not a fixed blade, you cannot have unreasonable expectations of any such knife. :)

I am very happy with mine. I do think that the best configuration of the military is in it's g10 with nested liners platform(unless it's the CF S90V one). Initially I was thinking that additional weight would just be a nuisance on this lightweight, slicing machine but I sure changed my tune quickly when I got my Ti millie.

Gratuitous picture.

Mr. Singularity, your pic is so good that I almost with I hadnt' sold my Ti Military. I got rid of it because it was fairly slick (certainly compared to the G10 flavor), and heavier. I did not quite see the benefit to slicker and heavier. But that sure is a sweet looking knife, no doubt. I still have a G10/Ti version, which I guess I need to get out and play with.

Sadly, this is why traded my Ti Millie for a full sized Manix at a gun show last year. :( Lockup was perfect, and had very smooth opening, however, I found that I preferred the grip and light weight of the G10 to the Ti in this Spydie. I do plan on picking up another, but for right now my plain jane Military is my absolute fav. YMMV

Yeah if you dont mind the extra weight I would not hesitate to buy it right now. Also the fluted ti military will probably the ultimate ti military with extra grip and a very slightly reduced weight if you want to wait that long to get one.

When did i say the lock would fail? i SAID i have reason to believe lockup on the alias could POSSIBLY not be the "tightest" because of design. I also dont remember stating that I thought a titanium frame lock was a fixed blade???? Lastly i simply was asking if the alias has any blade play when locked up (not fixed blade style)...thanks :-)

and thanks to those who answered questions regarding the mili!!

Well, a loose lockbar doesn't inspire much confidence, does it? That is what 99% of people assume will occur. Again, bladeplay in a folder usually means there is a problem with assembly or tolerances in some form. That is what I was saying. Many people do think that a framelock knife can be used as a fixed blade, they ask in a roundabout way.
;)

Enjoy your Ti Military

Im not asking anything in a round about way..again was just simply curious of the lockup on the alias 1. I don't intend to pry open sewer caps just wanted to know that's all. Do you have any experience with the knife? im confident the mili is a great knife although

I've got the M4 version and I like the Ti framelock. I was worried it would exaggerate the mongo handle on the Military but that wasn't the case for me. I don't care for the stainless handles on the Police and Endura, but the Ti has a different feel. Less slippery and very comfortable. Pivot and lockup are more than adequate for me.

More gratuitous pics
