Here I am, its midnight here in Texas; and I am tired, drunk, thinking about knives, getting out of college, and scantly dressed college girls... and deciding what I should get for myself upon graduation.

What I have:
M43, Kumar
18" GS, really thick unmarked SANU, my own wood handle
GRS from YVSA that is the cornerstone of my collection, wood handle, early SANU
Fully engraved 16" WWII,beautiful horn SANU
Katana, engraved horn Durba
12" mean as hyell Sirupati by Durba, horn
15" Sanu AK, horn

I have really been thinking about a Cherokee Rose. Why? Cause I dont have a good "Bowie" and when I say "Bowie" I mean what they were intended for. I have a 9" bladed AUS 8 CS Tanto that sleeps imbetween my matress and box springs that gives me comfort when something goes bump in the night, (and my 6" Security Six but that is another story) but I wonder what YVSA's "short sword" is like. I have seen the comparison between it and a 15" AK, and it dwarfs the AK. Is there anything Special I should ask for on the ROSE? Maybe fully engraved Full Convex Grind? That would be pricy, but unique and VERY cool. I dont know.

Or maybe I should go with the Berk Special? Or just get a "New Model" a 12" AK, and some of the other things I have missed out instead of one big one... man... I need Sleep ... this HIKV is kickin my Butt... (Insert sleepy face)

Drunk indeed, instead of all them other knives you mentioned just save up for a Berk Special with all the toys. You'll like it, I guarantee it. By the way, how's the scabbard coming along for that boxwood handled tanto (kogatana?).

Sarge,
I finished the first "prototype" out of scrap white oak I picked up from Home Depot. I dont want to mess up the birdseye maple, so I figured I would learn my @ss from my elbows on something else. I plan on making 3 "prototypes" and by the time I get around to the maple I should be an expert. Besides, the earlier versions can be used for other file knives.

The cool thing about a file knife is that the "teeth" that you left at the ricasso are slightly thicker than the rest of the blade and that is where it holds itself to the scabbard making the perfict fit for this type of knife. I used 2 ton epoxy to glue the 2 halves together and the finish is Superglue, I didnt want to bother with something that takes hours to dry. I think this one would look nice with a glossy black paint coat.

BTW, the only thing I used to make the current scabbard was the tanto (for fitting purposes and general shaping of the scabbard), a german wharncliff carving knife and a 1/2" chisel, I think I need a 1/4" chisel before I do another cause making what I have work was difficult. The area around the tip of the tanto was really hard to carve out.

I would have more done, but school comes first. Got a test at 11am today so I better go and study.

Berk Special... hmmm... with the tools (insert Homer Simpson's Drooling noise here; much like "Dooonuuuut...mmmmmm")

Dave, reason I suggested the Berk Special is that it looks and handles a good bit like those vintage khukuris Berk showed us down in Austin. Of course, I'm also very curious how the 14" Bura New Models turned out, and I'm also waiting to see what the Foxjaw Fighters wind up looking like. There's something about a broad, double fullered, forward curving, khuk blade, with a thinner than "normal" spine, that I'm starting to find more and more appealing.

By the way, make yourself one of these and it'll be lots easier to carve wooden scabbards ;)
