Ive been looking for a decent folder at this price point but havnt seen anything i really liked. It would be for work stuff, preferably sturdy and strong and nothing more than 3.5 inch blade.

Ive been looking at the manix but it doesnt seem like something i want with the plastic lock and then hollowgrind

the manix 2 is my favorite knife i own. Fits my hand better than any knife i own. For around $80 id definetly consider that one. Solid

+1 on the Manix. It's a fantastic knife and the ergos are great. The lockup is solid and the "plastic" locking cage is actually a high-density polymer, so it's more durable than it looks. You won't be disappointed.

CS American Lawman is one of the toughest, Kershaw Speedform 2 for top notch steel, Spyderco Stretch can be had for about $80.

Or, if you can save up $20 more, you could get the inestimable Paramilitary 2.

Forgot for a second, Kershawguy also has ZT 0350 blems for $95 shipped. Which, since shipping is included, is really only $5-10 more.

The Ontario RAT 1 can be had for $30-$40, and even in a tigerstripe pattern at Knifeworks.com. If it's a knife you're just going to use and keep using for pretty much any cutting task, might as well get something a little bit cheaper that you won't be worried about breaking or messing up. Then you can put the money you save towards getting something really nice later if you're so inclined.

Buck Vantage, there are 3 versions so you can pick your price point/steel/handle material. I prefer the middle of the pack there myself.

For that much money, I'd go with a Manix 2.

Another good one for well within your price range might be the Kershaw RAM.

It means blemish. There's a cosmetic defect, usually almost unnoticeable, that prevents Kershaw from selling them at full price or with their normal warranty.

How about a Cold Steel American Lawman or Voyager? The Spyderco Manix 2 is also a good one. Good Luck! Kevin :D

The Ontario Rat 1 folder is a tank. It only costs $30. The only thing i don't like about the knife is that its made in Taiwan, but other than that, the Rat 1 is great. Its the definition of work/utility folder.

The Manix 2 with the translucent blue handles is pretty good. solid lockup and a pretty sturdy knife. I also agree that the Para2 would be a great choice. SOG Vulcan is not a bad choice either.
