Well the good news is I get a paycheck again. The bad news is that I have to go to work again. The good news is I get to use a 350# air hammer, the bad news is the 500# little giant isn't hooked up yet. I'm not forging anything interesting, but I should get a lot of practice with power hammers and presses.

Ya beat me to it Peter! Man all I've got is a home built 50lb. hammer, what I wouldn't give to get my hands on a 350lb., not to mention 500lb.! I guess you could say you are coming out on the plus side of things. :D

Make some lemonade out of the lemons!

You will gain undreamed of experience using a hammer day in, day out that you never would at your shop. Some of those "old hands" that have been doing it a while can show you a thing or two.

Its probably not a bad move at all. From first hand experience, it beats working on computer systems all day long that doesn't teach you a darn thing about bladesmithing!

You lucky dog! All I have is a 190-pound hammer (me) and it doesn't work very well. :D

Mark, I don't think that even the "small" hammer (150-200#) will fit in my car. Too bad cause it would look really good in my garage. I can bring all the grade 60 rebar drops people want though, up to 1 1/8" diamater. Actually if anyone wants I can mail them some if they'll cover postage. I made it a condition of my employment that I can make it to Trackrock so I'll see you all there.

Insanity, congratulations on the job perks, anyhow! BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG music! Sparks flying, and a big grin on insanity's face! BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG! Heck, you are even getting paid for doing it!

Sounds like all good news to me :D
I talked to Deven Thomas last night, he has a 500# LG and loves it.
I hope they get the 500# LG working where you work.
