Like the title says... Found a few places in east LA and such, but nothing in the Hollywood/West Hollywood/Beverly Hills/Culver City area... Anybody have any suggestions?

I'd be surprised if there's anyone in LA who can sharpen an axe. Not exactly timber country. And just because an axe is sharp doesn't mean it has the right shape or that it retained the temper.

Post a picture of the axe you want to sharpen would be the best place to start. There is a lot of help here from competition choppers to those that clear trails in wilderness areas (like Square Peg). Its not rocket science either, you will get some good advise and learn a useful skill.

Appreciate the advice... I actually know my way around a file and stone, problem is, many of the guys I work with don't... I have the whole crew's axes, some in pretty bad shape, and I don't have the time to do them all myself, hence the search for a sharpener...

I think YOU would be a good axe-sharpener in your area. If the axe is a bit rough then shape it to your liking with a hand or bench grinder and then make it pretty with a good quality file.

If it is not rusty and you like the shape but it just needs a better edge, then just touch up the edge and it's angle that is already there with a good hand file.

I have a lot of NOS USA-made hand files laying around here if you need some:

Pretty dang envious over here... Really wish I had trolled my local HW stores when I heard Nicholson was outsourcing their production to Mexico/Brazil/Columbia. Didn't think the quality would drop but I swear these new files can only last 1, maybe 2 heavy axe reprofilings while my old US-made Nicholsons could go 3+.

I tend to agree, ha ha. Thanks very much for the offer on the files, shoot me a PM and I might buy some for my own use... However this inquiry is for the whole crew's axes... 10-15 axes, depending. A project I just don't have time to do myself...
