I'm looking for chep/mid range bluetooth in ear headphones that I could use along regular ear protection. Does anyone here have any recommendations or experiences?

I recommend JBL TUNE 600BT noise cancelling headphones. They retail for around a 100 bucks. I bought mine for a song at a big box store. They were on clearance sale for 29.99.

Raycon makes good affordable earbuds. But if you really want to go all in, 3m makes some really good, in-ear electronic plugs that you can Bluetooth to your phone or whatever... I've got a set. No I didn't pay for them, they were provided for me by my job. I'll post a link if you'd like. They are expensive, like all 3m products, but quite excellent!

What is the connection between ear buds and ear protection to you? How do you use them “along” side each other?

Thanks for the recommendation but I need in ear headphones(what some people call ear buds) because I need to put ear muffs on top of them.

I use "Receiver in Canal" hearing aids which correct my deficit in the higher frequencies. They utilize BlueTooth to connect me with my phone and streaming services. They have a microphone built in so I can set the phone down and chat while walking around. They also have noise cancellation.
I put Peltor ear cups over them to block extraneous noise, but they have microphones and amplifiers so I can listen without removing them. So I have 8 levels of volume plus OFF. When the amplifier is on, the earphones clip loud noises. I use this combination when shooting, driving, mowing, sawing, and concert going where I can adjust for a comfortable level of sound. This helps protect what is left of my hearing.

I have the Sony wh1000xm3 noise canceling headphones, and the work tunes. They both work great for blocking noise of the shop out, but the Sony 's are vastly superior in the sound department

Have you guys noticed that any are louder than others? I'm not big on jamming them hard into my ears and a lot aren't as loud as I would like them and I find they can be hard to hear when the grinder is on. The safety of listening to loud music is my own risk but most of the time I just want to hear my book.

I use Bose 700 noise canceling headphones. With noise cancelling it drown out grinder with nothing playing. Volume only needs to be about 50% to listen to podcast while using grinder at full tilt

Yeah with the noise canceling it works great, I listen to a ton of books/music
