Good Boot knife for actual boot carry?

I have a pair of Army Surplus, full leather boots that I want to carry a blade in. The tops are padded and that might pose an issue on clipping it. What are your suggestions for a back up only style knife that actually fits into the boot? I want to carry it on my right, outside of the boot, with the sheath on the inside.

I like the CS Braveheart, any opinions?

Thanks!

I like most things Cold Steel but can't claim any experience with the Braveheart. As for bootknives I carried a Gerber Guardian for years when I worked in EMS, and it made a nice snug fit over the top of the Hi-Tecs I usually wore and they had a nice padded collar. Kershaw Military might be the best bet though. It is definitely what I would get knowing what I know now.

I own a braveheart and I carried it a couple times in the exact way you described. It's a fine knife but not really the kind of thing I'm in to. I still have it but I'm trying to get rid of it since I never use it.

Cold Steel....push dagger , short one will fit the boot better , I used to carry a Gerber MK1 , having the thumb snap and a steel clip was a good thing , with all the "new" style sheath being made with out a snap strap...you would have to try it to see if it stays in place at a jog/run , a boot knife in the boot was...sometimes a bit tough to keep in place... imho

I just posted this in another thread but the Kabar TDI ankle knife will work great. You can wear the ankle rig easily over your boot. There's a pic of the knife and the rig in this thread.

I don't wear the rig over a boot, just over a sock so I cut the strap smaller. But the way it comes from Kabar you'll have zero problem getting it on over your boot. The rig is the most comfortable ankle rig I've ever worn. I barely ever know it's there and have never sweated under it.

In my opinion it's definitely worth checking into.

Hey I really like this option of the angle rig for the boot... is there any way to buy just the ankle rig so you can put any knife you want on it?

I'm thinking about a CS safemaker II for the inside or outside of my boot & I didnt know how to securely attach it. This looks like a really great way.

is it the only real secure option though? Or are there other ways to attach knives to your boots? Or are there other straps that have less material but yet work just as well?

And it has served me well (integral=strong as hell)!

That's not good to hear. I've had mine for about a year, have yet to notice any problems with the scales, but will watch out for 'em. Make sure to let Kershaw know the problems you experienced with yours, as I'm sure they'll make it worth your while.;)

Here is mine, maybe look at something along these lines? I like this knife.

Koyote Knives Modern Sgian Dubh, with sock sheath:
