Are their any real good boot knifes in the $20-$40 region that anyone would suggest for day-to-day use, because im fairly new to collecting knives.

The old Western boot knives (2 sizes) sold in the $32.00-35.00 way back in the very early 90s. They were good knives but simple and nothing really special, so I would expect something decent to cost more now.

I have a Cold Steel Culloden, and they make (4) versions in the $50.00-55-00 range. They also have had their Peace Keeper I second-quality (cosmetic blems) in their Special Projects catalog for $44.99. CS's knives are a good value and offer good performance at a good price, but nothing fancy. I have a lot of Cold Steel knives as "users".

I've also seen used Gerber MarkII, Mark I, and Guardian on e-Bay in the $45.00 range.

I too love boot knives and still have a bunch of them. Plus, I just sold (3) Randall #2 Fighting Stilletos, (3) #13 Arkansas Toothpicks, and a #24 Guardian. Hated to do that

Hope this helps.

I have a Smith and Wesson. Looks good but I never really tried it. Don't know what it worth on the field.

Falcon of Italy. Probably just 440 steel, but the grind lends itself to taking an excellent edge, best I've seen in any inexpensive boot knife (these sell for around $20). Extremely flat in the soft leather sheath. I had to sew my own boot clip onto the sheath.

Got to remind you, please take no offense, double edged knives hidden on one's person is a serious legal matter in most areas.
