I went to the local pawn shop and saw either a Vic work champ or Hercules for $20, when they are both 100$ plus knives but the guy will do 15 so I'm going to buy it tomorrow. That said I'm a little skeptical about the plastic locking mechanism on it. If anyone could tell me a bit more about the durability of it over the long run that would be great. Thanks for any advice you may give, and yes I have worked with many vics and I know that they are great quality knives.

Buy it! Those locks work fine. If it ever goes bad, Vic'x will fix it (maybe not for free, but a very reasonable price). But this is very unlikely. Great deal on a great tool.

Nah, that's a horrible price for that knife. You should avoid going back there... by the way, what's the phone number of that pawn shop? I feel the need to call them and let them know just how poorly-priced that knife is, and offer them some advice on where to ship it-- er, um, I mean, some advice on how they ought to price their knives.
