I'm looking for a decent carbon steel or near stainless knife for less that 100$. This will be a multipurpous knife, used mostly for carving and skinning, and will likely be an edc. Any suggestions?

Thanx

What type of size range? I'm curious to see what type of answers you get and that will likely be the type of knife I'll be looking for after I get that Meadowlark...

Check the Bark River line. These are fixed blade knives, and at least half of hte models are made of A2, a good carbon steel.

For available models, check DLT Trading Company.

BRKT is my favorite knife maker, and their prices can be quite reasonable.

For a good carbon folder, I'm still looking!

try a becker bk7, or a cold steel recon scout if you can find them, there are a lot of good ones from ka-bar like next generation fighter in D2, ontario spec plus or rat knives. These are the first to come to mind

I assume you're talking about a fixed blade but I'm going to throw out another option that would work well for your needs. Take a look at the Queen Mountain Man Lockback. 3 5/8" high carbon 1095 blade with beautiful root beer bone scales. The Mountain Man is a large knife knife but carries well in a belt sheath or in the back pocket of a pair of jeans - and best of all, you get old school quality from Queen for only $69 bucks.
