My baby turned 2 and we had a family birthday party for her tonight. At the gift opening I was using my Case yellowhandle med. stockman CV. My oldest daughter was working on a package and asked for the knife. She's 14 and loves my CV knives. Anyway, she was having a little trouble and my brother in law was close to her. She gave him my yellowhandle to help. He looks at it in amazement. Tells her it has to be as old as him...36. She says nope. She tells him its a different type of steel than he is used to seeing. It changes colors with use and age.

She then spins around and tells me to explain it. I just explained it was a Carbon steel blade and not stainless that he is accustom to seeing. I also tell him its only 3 yrs old. I show him the same knife in never used condition. So as he looks it over in amazement...he then comes to a revelation. That knife should last forever. Its a good old Chase. Needless to say, I didn't correct him. I let it go. My little Chase made a lot of new friends tonight.

Just think, it's only February and you already know what to get him for Christmas!

My daughter is pretty good with knives now. I gave her a few Vic's that she uses without fear anymore. She watches me clean and oil my carbon steels blades. She has watched the progression of patina on several knives over the years. I have been ordered to leave a medium stockman yellow handle UNTOUCHED for her. She wants to have one that is new when she gets older that she can patina herself.

While she does have her girly moments, she loves soccer...in the trenches as goalie, she loves to show off her bruises and injurys. She freezes in deer stands with me about 15 times per season. Loves my 50 cal Blackpower gun. And will work step for step with anybody. I let her work for me this past summer at age 13. I own a landscape company. She humbled many!

Girls rock, eh, 65hoss!? Mine just turned 5 and we have a ball together. She loves my yellow-handled soddie junior.
