I'm looking for a good classic pocket knife under $60 kind of like the Case XX knives. It needs to have good steel for the price and a widish blade so I can sharpen it without the blade getting smaller in only a year.

Are you ok with spending a long time sharpening? Queen takes the cake in terms of what you get for your money IMO. Great fit and finish, quality construction, and D2 blades which stay sharp for a good long time but also takes a while to set the edge. Great Eastern Cutlery's about on the same level of everything accept they mostly use 1095 (carbon) or 440c (stainless) and can be a bit spendier but comes with much more options.

If not those then I'd say check out offerings from Boker and also AG Russle. Boker does some of the best 440c out there, and their carbon steel is easy to sharpen and touch up. AG Russel's line of slipjoints are made in china, but very well made at that. The steel they use varies but it'd be about on par with what you'd get from Case or Boker.

Take a look at the GEC #15 "boys knife". Classic simple design, 1095 steel, available in a number of scale materials. You can find them around $62. Fantastic knife.

Like Javelin said, Queens D2 is great too. Keep an eye on the for sale "old timey knives" section.

I would prefer stainless steel since my knives will get wet and I do not want to apply oil all the time and I do not want to use an acid on the blade because I do not like the color it creates.

I would look into Buck's 300 series (primarily 301 or 303) or 500 series lockbacks (like the 501). The 55 lockback is handsome, too.

Canal Street Cutlery uses 440C, as well as other steels. I've been very impressed with the quality of recent purchases from them.
