I would like a nice fixed blade convex grind knife but i'm poor. Anything out there in the 8" range for around $75-$100?

About 8" blade but more than $100 = Fallkniven A2.
About 8" total length and around $100 = Fallkniven F1.

The afore mentioned Fallknivens or Bark River for convexed blades.

Might take a bit of shopping to stay in your price range, but should be do-able.

My preference would be Bark River. Pro Caper, Pro Scalpel, or the mini-Canadian. These are small knives but absolutely ground to be honed razor (I mean razor) sharp. In all my knives (to include 11 convex ground Bark Rivers), the only knife to even get close to the hair-popping sharpness I can achieve on my mini-Canadians is a Helle scandi-grind in 12C27.

Here is the Caper:

Red linen would be my choice in that Caper. The red maple burl can;t be beat in the Pro Scalpel.
