$50 for this pile! That railroad anvil is worthless as is, but if I cut the base off it would sit nicely on a vertical piece of rail.

But what about that chunk?! It is 145# So what would you all do with it? I have a 75# Kolswa that has great rebound, but worn edges. The chunk has decent rebound, but not quite as lively as my little Swedish friend. Should I go through the effort of building a nice stand for it?

make it into a hardy tool (bick) that goes on top of the anvil ?

What exactly is it a chunk of? You could put it on end in a base of sand or concrete and it would probably have even better rebound. Polish the surface and use it for smaller forgings. Thats a nice batch of copper as well. What is the bowl like item?

The square chunk looks to me like a traditional bladesmith's anvil as is, and the little RR track anvil would be fine, if polished on top, for making jewelry.

I'm not exactly sure what kind of steel it is. I need to give em a call, but I assumed it was some kind of mild when I picked it up. It dings with a ball peen pretty easy, but like I said, that ball peen wants to fly!

Good idea on making that little anvil a hardy tool... hmmmm....

Not sure what that bowl was either... a bird feeder? I'm gonna cut it up and make some pioneer style kitchen implements for a wall hanger.

I have a welder friend that might help me stick weld a high carbon surface on it.... and make a stand for that matter.

I think the bowl thing was a anchor? maybe had concrete in it for weight to start. great scores all around .

nah it's too decorative and light.. and it's all copper. My wife was eyeing it up for a bird feeder but I had to put my foot down. She will score with a nice kitchen set unbeknownst to her.

anway... is there any advantage to using that as a base for my 75# kolswa or should I just make a big post anvil??

ah I didn't see it was copper, well I have no clue then .... still good scores I have really liked what alot have makers have been doing with copper lately and did a copper spacer on my latest knife so looks like alot of potential there to me .
