So I decided to use my day off today to experiment with some acid etching and I also thought it might be interesting to photo document the process. Im sure most of you know the process of acid etching so I wont bore you with the details. Heres a list of what I used:
-two old s&w knives
-ferric chloride
-nail polish
-wire brush
-hot water
-optional: hair dryer or heat gun (use to quicken the drying process of the nail polish)
Before shot:
Tools:
Coated Powerglide with nail polish & submerged in FeCl for 30 minutes:
Coated Folder with nail polish & submerged in FeCl for 45 minutes:
Powerglide after 30 minutes, before cleaning the gunk off:
After rigorous cleaning since I didnt have nail polish remover, I just used lots of hot water and elbow grease and cleaned all the nail polish off. Im quite pleased with how they turned out for my first time. Here are the shots of after:
All in all, a good day!
