I just got back from short vacation to rural GA. Somewhere between Savannah and Macon. If I'd have gone any further off the beaten path, I'd have driven off the earth.

The only things around town were churches, bait shops and pawn shops. So I hit the pawn shops.

The better of the shops had a good amount of knives. Most were chinese junk from HSN and a couple Case knives thrown in for good measure. I did however find a Camillus stockman #67 that looked to be in new/unused condition. Marked $25. After some haggling, I asked what his bottom line was. "I'll take $20 - out the door."
I said I'd take it. He then said he had the box and papers.

He couldn't find the correct box so he ended up putting it in a 717Y marked box. Oh well. Still got a New-In-(incorrect)Box 67 for 1/2 the price Amazon is selling them for.

I'll try to get some pics posted later. I think I'm going to try some of my local resale shops now since I have the day off.

I call anything not ebay shopping or knife show browsing, to be 'out in the trenches knife hunting'. And that is most rewarding way for me to find knives for my own collection, or for resale at profit. In the late winter and springtime, between hunting and fishing seasons, I have a regular saturday morning route, that takes me to pawn and antique shops, a garage sale here and there, sporting goods stores, ect. My fish and hunt adventures take me all over Michigan, plenty of out of the way bait and gun shops and hardwares to check out.

Good find you made.

Thanks Phil,

I did hit some of the local Resale and Pawn shops on Thursday. I foud a Case Trapper with jiged bone slabs for $28 (4 1/8", possibly a 6245, I didn't check). It has a couple small rust spots on the blades that let me know they were carbon blades. I didn't buy it as the proprieter was interested in a couple things that I mentioned trading in on it.

If all goes well, I'll pick it up Saturday for about $10 and a couple of rare decks of playing cards (one unopened/wrapped deck from the now defunct Ozark Air Lines that I got from my grandfather).

I hate to say it but I think I like the hunt more than the kill sometimes. After hitting several pawn shops in GA, I'd have bought a knife I didn't even want if the price was as good as the #67. Luckily, the Stockman is my favorite patern and the shop happened to have this one.

I'll keey everyone posted on my hunting.

Thanks,
Chris
