If any of you like the "Bug out Bag" or "Urban Survival Kit" idea, there is a good deal over at Sierra Trading Post on a North Face pack, that has about the same capacity of the Becker patrol pack, but costs about 1/3 the price. I like the color scheme, and the fact that now you can carry your kit, knives, gear, and broke down collapsing stock 11.5" AR around town with you (I would NEVER do that, I'm just saying...) anyway, the brand name paints you as a student or tree hugger, but the color allows you to blend into the trees. Meanwhile no one marks you as a paramilitary knife nut because you've got a camo or olive drab assault pack on. Here's a link. http://www.sierratradingpost.com/product.asp?base%5Fno=82382&str%5Fbase%5Fno=60540%2C60541%2C81108%2C81109%2C81111%2C82105%2C82382%2C85222%2C85375%2C85378%2C88265%2C88269%2C&header%5Ftitle=Search+by+Vendors&page%5Fname=search%2Fvendor%5Fresults%2Easp&search%5Ftype=1440&size1=&size2=&gender=1%2C9%2C+2%2C9%2C+3%2C4%2C+0&ShowImages=yes&sq=20&cont=1&intPgNo=2&special%5Ftype=&mscssid=ART7WPTKMD3E9PPENNS3LBC2NJUF6T93

Remember kids, if you show you are prepared you will be taken down by the sheep because you stand out of the flock. Part of survival is camoflauge in the masses.

Robert, Thanks for the link. That is indeed a low-profile sort of pack. I like your line above - it's kind of the wildebeest factor applied to a biped species. ;) FWIW, another good place to keep an eye on for occasionally insanely low prices is the Hot Deals section of the Campmor website. http://www.campmor.com
