Good decision?

After having a Cold Steel Recon 1 for about a year (and being a bit disappointed in it) I've been wanting to pick up a new knife for EDC and to use at work cutting up carpet and carpet pads. I put in a lot of overtime this weekend and last night I stopped by one of the local stores and picked up a Benchmade Griptillian (I believe it's model 550SHG) and while I was there, I ended up grabbing a CRKT M16-01KE as well. So far, I'm impressed but I've been out of the knife scene for a while so I wasn't sure if I made a good purchase last night. So, do you guys think I'll be happy with my new knives?

Probably; both are pretty popular and just about flagship examples of each company. Get a Chive from Kershaw, and a Delica from Spyderco and you would have a great example in each suit. :D

I have never used a grip. but anything from BM is good IMHO. I am sure you will be happy with it. Now just make sure you have a good method for keeping an edge on your new knives :D . Keeping them sharp is easier than letting them get dull and trying to get it sharp again. I strop my knives after use, which maintains the edge.

I carry a mini-RSK (mini-Grip from Aeromedix with S30V steel) as my personal (non-work) EDC. I also have the full sized RSK Grip that goes hiking/camping with me. I have no complaints at all about them.

I gave my best mate a 440C mini-Grip for his birthday 2 years ago and it's still going strong with very minimal sharpening.

I gave a couple of co-workers matching Cabelas mini-Grips (D2 steel) for their 5th anniversary and they both managed to slice themselves up pretty good first day, but no complaints about their performance (just the ID-10-T user errors).

I also have both sizes of standard 154CM Benchmade Grips that my wife carries when we're camping/hiking. No complaints there.

Yeah... I think you'll be happy with yours as long as it's used the way it was designed. I really like 154CM. I can get mine very sharp and it holds up a good while for me.

BTW, Britishblades.com has a review of a 154CM mini-Grip and (I think) a Ritter Grip in their review section if you want to read them.

I'm sure you'll be happy with your purchases, especially the Griptilian, you can't go wrong with the Axis lock.

I'm planning on picking up a M-16 in the near future. I've heard mostly good things.

Well, I used the Griptilian for the first time at work today. Had to cut some carpet and it performed beautifully. I think the Grip is going to be my work knife and the M16 is going to be my EDC. Haven't needed to use the M16 yet but I just love how it operates ;)
