Hey everyone, so I'm looking for a fixed blade under 4 inches. Please do not suggest a larger knife because 4 inches is the LEGAL limit.

I've looked at plenty of threads, but the op either has different parameters (size mainly) or the post is outdated. I'm interested in Ontario, Kabar, and possibly Esee. If there are other names I should look into I'm open to suggestion.

I'd rather not have a skeletonized knife that I'd have to wrap in paracord. Micarta scales or wood would be preferred. Prefer a thick spine, and some element to improve grip, whether it's a finger chill or jimping. Price wise, I'm looking under $80. This will probably only allow me to get 1095 steel, although 5160 might be a possibility.

I'd like a sheath that will allow me to carry the blade horizontally on my hip. As long as I can conceal it on my hip then I'm happy

Thanks for reading

In that size range I'm partial to the Spyderco Street Beat.

......OH, never mind. It's NOT under $80....sorry; it will teach me to read the entire post before I respond.

A Becker BK14 and some TKC g10 scales will come in right around $80. Maybe slighty over. You could use Para cord for horizontal carry.

If you jumped your price up to $120-$150ish, I would absolutely second the street beat.

I'll add to the voices suggesting an ESEE 3 (or the Ontario option although, I hear that the heat treat on the ESEE's is better - not sure how true that is though...). I have plenty of other knives but still chose to replace my 3 (which was lost in a house fire) despite having a bunch of other fancier knives of a similar size.

The only thing to note is that the 3 is not a thick knife which you state a preference for. Interestingly, it is one of the reasons that I like the ESEE 3 over all the others (even the Izula II). Due to it's thinner stock, it slices MUCH better and for me is still plenty strong (oh and it'll conceal better too). The only thing that thicker knives to is to baton better - that and weigh you down better ;)

Just food for thought.

Becker bk14 is my suggestion. multiple ways to carry it and people love to mod them.

Check out the EDC series from JK Knives here on BF. Handmade and he offers a few different grinds. Right at $100 if you can swing an extra 20.

Kabar Snody Boss is 80 on amazon.. leather sheath included

Tops Baja 3.0 is another very nice knife

Becker BK14/24, and add on the Zytel scales (you get two sets of scales with that, an orange set, and black set) for the extra $12. The RAT 3 is another good option, but its a bit too large for EDC IMO. However, you might find it just fine.

And I prefer crossdraw (horizontal carry, just to the side of the belt buckle), as I find it easier. Horizontal right on the hip makes the handle stick out too much for my liking.

Good luck with whatever you do :D.

Jk knives EOC is nice. I just ordered one.
Jr survival bushcraft knives: Jr Neckr is tits. I just received one of those
Becker bk11 with micarta is great. Sharpens easy.

Ksf leather pocket sheath with any of those.

Have you considered the Izula2? The knives from John at JK Knives are great and I would recommend them.
