Hey everyone im looking to buy a nice, strong, somewhat small knife for every day use. Im thinking something like the Spyderco Dragonfly but i dont like that it doesnt have liners, it seams like it would be kind of weak. Im looking for any design of folding knife, traditional or tactical, maybe even Swiss Army Knife. It will be used for small tasks at work and home. I would like for it to be anywhere from the size of the Delica to the size of a Kershaw Chive and be around 30-40 bucks. I could spend more depending how much i like it... Any type of steel. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!! :) Thanks everyone!

Check out the Ontario Rat 1 folder. It might be too big for your needs but for that price point, it's alot of knife for the money.

I'm liking the CRKT M21-02G that my wife got me for Christmas, and it's right in your price range. Worth a look, I'd say--

Considering the average blade will snap long before the handles will pull the pins, what kind of liners it has means little. What might be more important is the blade shape overall, because that is what does all the work and gives direction to how well it can cut in different situations.

If it's an all around EDC, then a flat ground drop point will do the most. Swedge or sabre grinds offer an incremental strength improvement, but tend to wedge in the cut and increase friction. It's a matter of little differences adding up to a noticeable one, and the options can vary. A blade with a nitride surface treatment can be saber ground but a lot slicker than a bare flat ground. There are so many variables that one small knife can be completely different - but equal to another. Yet, there might be as much as a $100 difference.

I could point you to Boker Plus or Magnum, but what is really going to suit somebody will be what they want it to look like. Best thing to do is look in the knife cases around town, and search the net for images - not web sites - to see what might appeal to you. There are as many different knives as human imagination can create, which is both a joy and curse to those who use them.

Kershaw Cryo might be worth a look in that price range.

Or, a Spyderco Persistence.

A small Buck Vantage Avid might fit the bill as well.

Skyline is a good choice. If you like the Dragonfly and don't mind going up in price check out the G10 version. It has liners under the G10 and feels solid as a rock. Cuts like a laser beam too.

I will second the recommendation for the Cryo. I received one as a gift last month, and it is a great knife for the money.

If you want an SAK it is hard to beat the Alox series.

Victorinox Tinker (includes tweezers and pick)
Victorinox Alox models are tougher, look at the Pioneer, cadet or electrician.

Buck 301 or 303 stockman
Buck Vantage

Pick up the Spyderco Dragonfly. You can't go wrong with that knife. The lack of liners doesn't make it even relatively weak. It's a great little folder perfect for EDC. Nice size, good feel, nice and strong, and handles/cuts like a knife twice it's size. If you really like the knife, don't worry about it not having liners, I have never had an issue with linerless knives and have never heard of any issues. It's a solid and great little knife in every way. I say get it. And if you want to add a little more you can get the British Racing Green versiion in ZDP-189 super steel.

Dragonfly all the way.

Or if you're still worried about liners.. get the SS verion. =]
