Not sure what their prices are, but I think if I were budget minded I would probably look at Kris Cutlery and Del Tin. Kris Cutlery pieces are well made although not the most historical items on the planet, and Del Tins were the standard in medieval style swords once upon a time. Times have changed but they are still a good value for the money spent. Another one to consider is MRL. Some of their stuff is junk, but some is not, again for the money spent they aren't too bad.
Another thing I would consider however, is buying a used sword. Haunt the classifieds at swordforum.com or myarmoury.com. There are deals to be had.
I'm so excited that this isn't another "what's the best cheap chitana thread!"
Lol! Never heard that one used before. I will have to keep that in mind.
I personally think the Katana is a bit over done. I walked into my local weapons shop, and they did not have a single euro-sword. Every one was Japanese.
Dito on looking for a used item, you won't find better advice at your price point. Even if you don't get one if you browse the classifieds you might stumble on a brand you would be interested in buying new.
