After my shelter post yesterday I thought I'd head out today and show you one of my favourite natural shelter spots.....

I've sheltered here in some real nasty winter weather and it's possible to stay totally dry !!!

Nearby I found plenty of fresh deer tracks....

I tried a different way of carrying my knife today, I placed the sheath into a waist pouch that I have and threaded my belt through both the pouch loops and also the sheath, this kept it very secure and allowed me to carry a few extra items in the pouch !

Maisy looks like a bear in this pic eh,LOL !

Snicker dug a hole on a wood ants mound and bought them all to the surface to see what was happening( finished up with 3 on my camera just taking this pic)....

I'd headed over to the other side of the park today where there is a very civilised boardwalk footpath with rest spots, I decided to keep my ass dry today and use one for my tea spot !

I'd even found some apples still hanging to the branches, better make the most of them now cos they won't be around much longer......

Speaking of apples, they are doing a great job of adding to the patina on my knife eh !!!

cool cave! you should enclose it with rocks poles and moss and completely hide it.... ;)

love the "bear"

Pit, have you ever done any digging in the area? Chances are if you found it a good shelter, someone before you has as well. Might turn up an arrow head or two....

Great shelter area. Looks like a good place for a fire also.

Snicker is getting good at snapping pictures!

Yeah for a small dog she is picking it up fast !:D

You can't see it but there is actually a fire ring there from when I made fires last year !!!

Cool pics! I find a lot of shelter rocks along the bluffs here too. I'll have to go back to a few later this fall when the temps cool off more.

Great pics - I'm always on the look out for natural shelter just so I can see what I can find. Thanks for sharing the pics. Its good to see Maisy up and about now

Dig around that cave a bit and you might discover some artifacts.

Absolutely. When I was a 12yo I dug around an area with shallow caves across from my house and found an arrowhead. And that was supposed to be in an area that was already excavated by archeology students from a local college.

Found this note inside a rather large cave I discovered:
