i am looking for a good fairbairne sykes reproduction knife to buy what i mean by good is if i were to buy it it has to be "combat ready" i am not going out with the intention of carrying this for personal protection in the UK as the law prohibits carrying any sort of weapon for personal protection this would be more for personal protection for when i go over to poland as their law states you can carry any knife anywhere except public festivals which is fine by me. if not a fairbairne sykes reproduction something as close to shape and size and functionality

"Combat Ready"

You got any training in fighting with a FS dagger? (Is that still even taught? Seems like not much need for killing sentries anymore) Or any specific type of knife?

To answer your question . Google hiennie Haynes . and search for fairbairne & Sykes and the v-42 .

i used the term "combat ready" as a figure of speach what i meant was if i bought one if push came to shove i could use it as a weapon

That's what "combat ready" means. You didnt use it as a figure of speech.

I would suggest one, but not without knowing your "combat readiness." It would be dangerous to me to suggest a knife to someone who thinks a knife will make them combat ready.

Its a good way to get that person killed, and I don't want to be part of that.

i did use "combat ready" as a figure of speach because i dont intend to go out into combat with it only to defend myself with and i never said a knife will make me "combat ready" what i meant when i said that if i were to use the knife it wouldnt break on me also i am not some person who thinks "ooh a knife will automatically give me the ability to defend myself =D" i know how to use a knife i am by no means an expert but i know how to use one. i am not allowed to carry anything for self defense in the uk however when i go poland i would like to have something on me rather than my swiss army knife. this is strictly for going to poland nothing else

Although the folks are being a bit tough on you, marcinek is correct. That specific knife, like any, requires training. And with good training and practice, any specific knife (within reason) becomes almost immaterial.

My advice is if you think that you need that knife to go to Poland, don't go to Poland.

So you are going to walk around Poland wearing a 7 in (12 in. OAL) dagger on your belt?

And what about Poland and its people make you think you need to have a fighting FS dagger on you?

And, once again, do you know how to use that knife? It is designed for a very specific technique.

You do realize Poland isnt occupied by Nazis anymore, right? :D Its a very nice place these days.

And yes I know thats an FS Smatchet not an FS Dagger. :)

i go to poland a couple of times a year so no i don't think i need a knife to go to poland they allow knife carry over there that is why i am asking about a FS knife because they allow it over there otherwise i wouldn't bother getting one and i wouldnt just pick it up and look at it and think "hmm this will do a knife is a knife i dont need to train to use it" i have read about fairbairn sykes knives before and understand there is a specific way of using them thus i would research how to use it.

being in a foreign country in the city sometimes walking to the off licence at night might present a situation for me to be mugged or attacked (just to clarify i dont drink) that is why i want to carry a knife it would give me a better chance now i know you need to train and research with a knife which is what i would do i just think knives are good equalizers if you are attacked

Buy a Delica, and use the money you saved to buy beer in Poland. Enjoy.

Well, how about a Spartan George V-14

Btw, in the very small chance that you may have to "use" something like that you do realize that you will be in Poland a lot longer than you expect.

yes and if it ever comes to that well i would rather be tried by twelve then carried by six. i dont mean that in an arrogant way but if someone attacks me im not gonna sit there and take it im gonna fight back and if they get killed in the process then so be it

In EU you can make your time in the county of origin, if both countries agrees to do that :D

Anyway, back to F-S.

It is hard to find a proper FS dagger, as most of them are pattern III, which by definition is not proper FS dagger :D
Knurled handle is the main reason. But if we forget about that, UK made, like wilkinson, will be fine.
China made, or Czech made - like mikov, are not good.
