Swamp Rat, Ranger Knives, Becker and Ka bar are all good choice depending on how much you want to spend.

Getting as close to the limit as possible (which is what I always do :D ) I would check out Swamprat, espicially the Ratweiler - that's my number number one pick http://www.swampratknifeworks.com/knives.html

Also check out Ranger Knives, they're another good choice under 200$.

If you want to spend a bit less I really like the good old Ka bar in 1095 steel, Kraton or Leather both are good IMO and the Becker BK-7 (or any other model you like).

Ranger knives & Bark River are my suggestions. Does no one use the search function anymore?

It tends to be repetitious recently, doesn't it? :)

Unfortunately, the search function isn't worth much, anymore. :grumpy: If even one of the words you insert into your search exceeds a certain number of hits (I think 100, but I could be wrong), you get a blank page. Which means no searches that have anything to do with Sebenzas or Striders or any of the other hot topics here. You can imagine what'd you'd get if you used the words "fixed blade" to make a search: zilch.

Try using the advanced search feature and then selecting title block only in the drop down menu. Many threads using just the word "fixed".

Are you looking for a real "hard use" knife? Lots of prying, chopping down trees and building log cabins? I suggest thinking long about what you want the knife for. I love my big knives, but realistically, at least for me, my "little" 4" bladed woods knife gets more use, is sharper and easier to use for most things and cost a lot less.
