I just bought a Cold Steel Recon 1 Tanto blade but Ive been hearing alot of bad reviews about it so im thinking of buying a better one for about $80-90. Any suggestion? Or should I stich with the Cold Steel?

Mate, You'll get much better answers if you can narrow it
down to a few criteria. What uses, length of folder, one hand
or not opening ete. kinda thing.

There are a zillion choices with most not right for everyone.
So tell us more so we can help:D :D

Sorry....Your right. The blade has to be at least 4 inch. Ill mostly be using it as a "tactical" or "carry knife" You know a folder that SWAT teams, Police, Military, etc. use.

Spyderco police. It's a tad longer than 4", and as the name implies, it could be used as SD and regular tasks.
If you use it as a utility folder more than a defense, choose the plain edge. Spyderco's plain edge should be sharp enough for most tasks anyways.

I recommend the Spyderco Military:

4" blade,
G10 scales,
CPM440V steel,
and a choice between PlainEdge, SpyderEdge, or 50/50 combo edge.

You can get one for $90/plus shipping from Glasshartt, a Spydie dealer, at glasshartt@aol.com

Hope this helps.:)

Nothing wrong with Cold Steel products IMHO; I've used a couple of Voyagers for years with total satisfaction: tough, light, corrosion-free, hold a great edge and are easy to resharpen (AUS8). I wouldn't hesitate to trust my life to them. I think their fixed blades are even better (Carbon V). I have no experience with their new models, but the Voyager lockbacks are tough to beat.

If you like the "tanto-point", you might want to take a look at the Cold Steel Gunsite folder, or the XL Tanto Voyager.

...Then there is always the kick-ass Cold Steel Vaquero Grande, with its' 6 inch-long curved and fully serrated blade!..

you've been "hearing" bad reviews about it but what do "you" think about it is more important here

Yeah, I totally got to agree here. Its on personal preference. There'll always be pros and cons about every knife. Some depend on the task at hand.

My preferred folding knifes are the CRKT Apache and the SOG Tomcat.
