Looking for one to strap to my pack when camping for general purposes and entertainment (throwing), would like it to be fairy rugged and not just fall apart/get destroyed. How are the cold steel variety? It'd be cool if it came with some kind of cover/sheath. Also length is important, as it'd be riding on the side of a maxpedition condor II. Don't really want to spend a fortune either.

My cs trail hawk just came with a little plastic edge guard. It works fine for keeping it around the house but it's nowhere near a substitute for a real sheath.

Fort Turner seems very highly thought of by the members here who have been able to give them a try. Cold Steel hawks are good value for the price.

I second TFD. The trail hawk is great, but you'd have to find or make some sort of sheath for it... i have a fort turner buck hawk, which is mostly designed with throwing in mind, but the craftsmanship is superb. fort turner offers a few hammer-poll hawks as well, which I think is more what you're looking for. great prices and service, and an excellent product. the trail hawk is cheaper, but fort turner is much higher quality, and handmade:thumbup:

fort turner also sells handmade leather sheaths, as well

Kydex "Slip Sleave" by Rainwalker. $5.00! He also made me another slip sleave that I like better...I'll try to find a picture of that one also.

I've been using and abusing my CS Rifleman's Hawk since early 1994 and it's still going strong. Is that rugged enough?

i have a cs trail hawk and a cs riflemans hawk and the trail hawk is lighter but doesnt chop half as good as the rifleman hawk
