If I were you John, Id send a knife to knifetests.com so that mouthbreathing hammer monkey can bash it up, and once everyone sees he cant destroy it, youll get shitloads of orders.

John's knives are meant to be used with care by attentive enthusiasts of fine cutlery.

'course, he makes them so that they can be rammed through a car hood and shot with a .45, just for good measure!

All the best,

- Mike

While he has had a knife brutally tested already, it certainly would be interesting to see exactly what it would take to make one fail, since the other one was lost before it reached that point. Plus, the more websites his name comes up on, the better!

I think we have already proven the quality of Johns work with our own testing !

I wouldn't waste one of John's knives like that. That guy is an absolute idiot that destroys knives for no good reason and nothing is proven by it.

I agree Mack.

When I did my test, I was instructed to try and break it.

Now, I couldve put it in a press and broke it, or cut it with a torch or bent it till it broke, but I wanted to see what it would hold up to. Now I know batoning bricks, stabbing a truck hood repeatedly, pounding it up to the ricasso in a log with a framing hammer and shooting it w/ a .45 isnt really "practical" use, but it speaks volumes on the HT, and also kind of how "super steels" might be tough, but a piece of 1095 w/ a good HT is plenty tough.

It was an eye opener for me, as well as some of the guys who witnessed that thread evolve.

Im gonna say, I wouldnty send that tool anything to "test". If it were my name on the stamp, I wouldnt want it associated with that dumb ass at all.

Hm, you've all made good points--for whatever reason the fact that the KnifeTests guy is a crazy SOB and that his reputation might hurt John's never occurred to me.

The thing is, if I wanted to "test" a couple of knives the way he does it would be easy for me to sway the tests to show what I want to show. As Dr. Dean Edell says on his show when people say something is "laboratory tested". "WHO's laboratory?
I could test a top of the line Busse and hit it just a little differently with my hammer and break it while hitting John's blade "perfectly" to show that John's is better. Does this prove anything? No.
That said, I have no Busse's and two JKs.;)

Most of Noss's abuse tests are geared to a very malleable knife. During impact the knife would bend and the edge deform rather than break, such a knife would very easily take a razor sharp edge but would not keep it very long which is not an issue for one quick knife test !
