Good idea or bad

So I was thinking about asking for an ASHBM to be made like an original SHBM. Smooth bolts, smooth black coating if possible, coating removed from edge of handles, Busse spine stamp, etc…. Would that be wrong since it would look a lot like the originals? Maybe people would think it could be passed off as an original. This isn't to say they can or will do any of these things. I just thought it would be really cool. Sort of an homage to the original.

Don't think they have the same handle material anymore so it won't look like an original. Not sure if they do the original coating either. ..

The idea is cool though.

I got a sterile, choiless with hand shaped black canvas. Of course, it would never pass as an original because it's choiless, but I like the retro look. :) Then I broke down and got one of the original 1 of 300 with slotted bolts. I'll take some pics when I get a chance.

Here is my ASHBM, and a couple of her sisters ;)

I think it's an interesting idea, but I doubt you will be able to get the spine stamp, last I heard that was discontinued a while back.

Don't know about the original coating, but you could always go satin...

This one's black paper micarta, but you could go with hand-smoothed black canvas as you suggest for a more "original" look.

That's why they call it the Busse Custom Shop...
If Garth says yes, then go for it if that's what you want!! :D

I think it would look sexy as hell with a black blade, the new black smooth micarta and smooth bolts!!!

Wow that's harsh

Didn't mean to be harsh brother, but you asked... Just my worthless opinion. I say embrace the modern version rather than trying to make it look like something else. But like everyone said, if it tickles your fancy go for it, it's your money and your knife, make it what you want.

I think you think I want the old version so bad I'm trying to make the new model into it. Not my reasoning at all. I mean the new model is basically the old model anyway with a few very minor differences. I don't know how I wouldn't be embracing the new model. Choosing to buy it IS embracing it right? I mean I'm not asking them to modify the butt to give pinky bite. It's just a few simple aesthetic differences. I'm really hoping they can do the spine stamp.
