Im curious about the Knife magazines you guys suscribe to. Im looking for a magazine with maybe 2 issues a month with production autos and folders. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks alot.

none that I know of do two issur=es a month, but two good magazines are blade and tactical knives. Blade tends to have more customs though (almost all customs). tactical tends to do more production knives.

The only knife magazine I subscribe to is KnifeForums - The Magazine. I buy the rest off the newstand from time to time.

I don't think such a magazine exists on ANY topic (aside from "news" magazines, of course). The production schedule would be a nightmare!

Blade
Tactical Knives

Tactical Knives is my favourite, followed by Blade...Knives Illustrated would be my third choice.

If you can read French, Couteaux and Excalibur (spelling?) have incredible pictures...

There are also some Japanese magazines with incredible pictures of tactical knives (especially Strider and Mad Dog)...these are very hard to find (and expensive!) but there are a few bookstores in NY that carry them

Knife, the Japanese magazine, has the nicest pictures. As has been mentioned, there are no two-a-month knife magazines. I am going to start a subscription to Knife World because I can't get it on the news stand; this is a great newspaper format magazine, for a very reasonable price. The only magazine that I get every month is Blade.

KnifeForums the Magazine has a long way to go, but it is getting better with every issue.

looking for, whether it be tactical, hand made, high-end, exotic or classic. The above quoted answer sums up my general choices. Just take a look around and see what strikes a cord with you.

Sacre-bleu, mon ami!! Zee knife .. it is very sharp!

:)

Thanks for the suggestions. I think im going to buy a few from the bookstore and see which ones are worth suscribing to. Thanks alot, now i know what to look for.

The thing about all the magazines is that you have to read the reviews and then come HERE to get REAL reviews. It seems the reviews in all the mags (gun mags too) are more like advertisments.

Just for laughs, read yourself a nice review in one of them and then go to the Ad Index and see if the manufacturer doesn't have two nice ads in the mag that month.

I wish there were a "Gun Tests" for knives.

I've taken the normal ones for some time (Blade, TK, & KI)..., and I suppose I'll keep taking them. I suppose for the purposes you mention you might like Tactical Knives the best supplemented with something more in the line of a Bi-Monthly Newsletter of some sort.

I have to say I think tactical knives is fairly honest with their knife reviews. I have seen reviews that were "less than favorable" on certain knives.

I DO get BLADE from time to time ; I
just find it more expediant to go to
the local knife shop, have a "first
hand look" at what I'm buying & make the decisscision from there.
"Knife expert(s)" abound ; but I figure, I SHOULD know my knive(s),and so should the "dealer"
as well.

AET;)

I like them all! If it has pictures of knives, and articles on knifemakers, then I will read it. But, I do take the reviews with a grain of salt. Seems to me that most reviews are geared towards selling knives. I come here to find the straight scoop.

The exact titles are:
- La Passion Des Couteaux : http://passioncouteaux.free.fr/home.php
- Excalibur : http://www.graphycom.com/crepin-leblond/Fr/exca_2.htm

Despite the difference of website look, the most popular magazine in France is now Excalibur.

"Boink" mon ami, we don't say Sacrebleu since the middle-age you know :p

Wow, I didn't know about "sacre bleu" not being used anymore. I know some more modern French phrases that may not be as socially acceptable though. :)

Are both of those French knife magazines more oriented towards high-end production and custom knives?

I will try to look for Japanese knife magazines when I head back home to Hong Kong in a week. I only understand about 10% of what they're writing (the kanji), but I've found most Japanese "stuff" magazines have great pictures and nice glossy stock.
