Hi folks, I live in Colorado Springs and have been using a couple of the bigger internet knife guys to sharpen my knives. Unfortunately these guys are getting out of knife sharpening. So just wanted to see if anybody knows a good knife sharpener in Colorado that they would recommend. Thank you in advance

Yes, any interest in learning to sharpen your own knives? It takes practice and patience but worth it.

For the same reasons I don't cut my own hair :-) just kidding Thanks for the replies folks. I have a Lansky system that I've made a number of attempts using but couldn't really get anywhere. I know that might sound crazy but I never could be successful with it. It seems like I can touch up an edge but I have some high-end knives that I don't really trust myself with. I totally understand what you folks are suggesting though.

1. Put bowl on head
2. Cut any hair not covered by bowl. NOTE: leave the eyebrows alone unless you want to be ... different.
3. With the $ you saved by cutting your own hair, buy some sharpening equipment!

Seriously, it is extremely satisfying on sharpening your own blades. I freehand sharpen. One you get decent (and you will with practice), you can sharpen other folks blades. I sharpen my neighbors blades in exchange for some venison and fish given to me.

PS. I live in MI, no clue on CO sharpeners.

I’d call castle gate knives in Sedalia, fantastic knife dealer from CRKs to Medford, you name it. I’m pretty sure they sharpen as well. Just a bit north of you but worth the drive just to see their inventory.

I’m in Durango and at our farmers market is an amazing sharpener who trained under Murray Carter. I see this at a lot of farmers markets actually, skill set varies im sure.

I’m surprised there wouldn’t be a great sharpener in the Springs actually.

The Ken onion worksharp belt system does appear pretty dummy proof. Which is why I’ve thought about buying it

Thank you I'll give those folks in Sedalia a call at the front end of the coming week
