Good knives that aren't carried

Do you guys have knives that you love but don't carry? I have one, a Microtech LCC. It's a great knife. Good construction, outstanding fit and finish, great materials and premium steel with good heat treat. I don't carry it though because it's a big knife and is in the same class as my Millie. As good as the LCC is it's not quite as good a tool as my Millie. It's heavier and thicker so it doesn't carry as well. I've also never been able to get it as sharp as my Millie. For these reasons the LCC stays in its box, even though it's such a wonderful knife.

I have many knives that love but don't carry A commander, 806, mini tanto afck, civilian, cf millitary, renagade (spydrco), cqc-13, ect.. -Most have never even left the house.
However, I do have another millitary and another 806 that I do carry, as well as a few others. (I try to get more that one of the knives I really like).
Just lately I have been struggling with the thought of owning knives that I don't even carry. I've toyed with the thought of carrying them, and toyed with the thought of selling them. But, I'll probably do neither. A knife that's unused, is not a knife abused, as long as it's admired.

sigh! My Emerson Blackbird...I just cannot get comfortable with carrying it.

I don't carry my most expensive knife. A W. R. Clark Sharktooth California Auto. I think the pricetag plus the aggressive nature of the knife prevents me from carrying it more often.

What's the matter with the Blackbird? Custom or prodo?

It feels a little "thin". It doesn't have the width (front to back) of my CQC 7, and feels a bit awkward when opening it.

edited to answer: production.

Every knife I have has been carried at some point. Some more the others, but they all get pocket time, just depends on my mood really.

Most of my folders get carried. The fixed blades stay at home for the most part except for a select few that I take to the woods.

I've carried my LCC too. Ever since I got my Millie though it's been seriously neglected.

I love my Delica to death- it's such a great knife on so many levels- but I end up carrying my Griptilian instead because the blade is a little longer and the handle is a little fuller.

Like the old saying goes, there is a time and place for everything. Knives follow that thinking as well. I have a beautiful Buck 119 with stag handles that I handle and admire at home on a regular basis (probably one of my most treasured knives because of its origins), but to be honest, until I move back into the country and can hunt more, spend more time in the woods, etc., I don't have the opportunity to carry/use it much. I can't hardly justify slapping that big boy on my side and heading off to work. Now my plain Jane $35 Buck 110, that rides to work many a day (that or a multi-tool) - so yeah, I have plenty of knives that I am absolutely crazy about, but I only have so many pockets to fill up and location definitely provides some restraints as to what can go where.

I have 3 Randall Made Knives that I have carried just a couple of time to see how they feel on a belt but mostly they stay locked up in Kennedy tool box. Aside from that I have so many knives that I WANT to carry but I just don't have enough belt space (mostly fixed blade) so I alternate every week or so and carry a different set of blades (usually 4 at a time...2 on each side).

I have about 75 high and mid priced folders and about 20 fixed blades. I only carry about 5 of them on a regular basis. I think I have a problem, but don't tell my wife. :D

My Cabela's Alaskan Guide Buck 110.

It is one of my best when it comes to cutting performance.
And it is beautiful too.

But the weight and the need for a pouch keeps it at home--especially during the summer months when I wear light-weight clothing.

I just look at it as I have knives to carry, and knives to collect. I have plenty to carry, so having a collection doesn't effect me negatively. I do have a few good knives that I love very much and still carry. And there is nothing wrong with the knives that I don't carry, (some may ever be better than ones that I do). But, most of knives in my collection are a little to "intimidating" to use in public. Plus, God forbid, I ever need to sell em, they are still mint.

I don't have a lot of knives in my small collection, but there are "go-to" knives and "safe-queens". It's not that they are of higher value, but happen to be discontinued. I figure I'll use the ones that are easily replaced, all other things being equal.

I have some CRKT 21s and 16s in tanto and spear point configurations. I love them all, but when I carry, I carry my lightweight Cold Steel Voyagers (including Vaqueros) or Gunsite 5-inch. These don't sink down in my pockets like the others and in the winter they don't get cold.

Many are bought, but few are chosen.

I have a Smith and Wesson (by Taylor) Stockman that I purchase New in Box. It has sheep horn handles and is still in its foil wrapper. I refuse to carry or use that beautiful knife.
