This is a very good kukri made about 1930. These particular types have a particularly "quick" blade and have a great feel. Might be too small a grip for you big guys, but for me these are high on my list of very practical kukris.

Hopefully it will stay in the low price range.

Good luck. #218 1282 298

Read more. It says the holes are worm damage, and that sounds believable to me. I might put in a bid myself. Beautiful blade, it'd be worth it for blade and fittings. 70 years old? 12" blade? 16 to 17 OAL? Very light fast blade? To hold up like that means probably well tempered?

That handle isn't really horn, is it?

it may well be - the colouration looks right. i've discovered that horn--once it has dried out--can look very much like wood. I had a kukri with a handle i was sure was wood until I did the 'hot pin' test.

Looks like horn to me. At least from how the grain looks. Horn gets pretty funky looking once it starts gettin old, especially if its real well worn.

Same seller has a nice looking double puukko set too--dunno what a good price for it is though.

From the appearance, I'd bet the handles are stacked birch bark, not leather as described.

Is this some sort of standard issue military knife or just a typical local village style knife?
