Good lefty liner lock

I want to give a gift to a non knife friend who is a lefty. I would like a value liner lock with some color- kind of envision a Kershaw Skyline in lefty. What are some of my options?

Left handed knives are rare to begin with. Colored ones, not likely. There are a few knives out there that come with clips that can be flip-flopped to four different positions, two each side.

Spyderco makes a true, dedicated left handed Military, one of perhaps the best knives Spyderco makes. It is an unbeatably stout knife. I have one, as well as two right hand versions. You should at least consider it. They were limited production, and I am frankly surprised there are still any left. But there are.

Here is the one that Knife Center sells, good price too.

The knife on the right in both pictures is the lefty. It is a true left hand knife, even the liner lock is mirror image to the right hand version.

Cbxer55 Thanks. I should have added that the friend is a female. I own a Spyderco milli and it is probably too tactical for her. Last thing I bought her was a Leatherman Juice multi tool in purple which she likes and keeps in her car.

As mentioned, the now discontinued left handed Spyderco Military will likely be the least expensive and most available option for you right now. It's a truly great knife, and every lefty should get one before they are gone. I've got two--so I have a backup for my first one.

Your other options start to get more and more expensive after this.

Don't over-think her gender. Here's a video of a young woman that really enjoys her Military:

Wow, lefties are somewhat screwed in the knife world. Did not know that. I knew lefty knives were rarer but did not think about the limited model selection too.

As a lefty I prefer full ambidextrous.

Most left handed people are somewhat ambidextrous because they are used to working with their right hand and sometimes like to switch things around to see how it works for us.

I also don't really like products that go one way or the other since I see it as a limitation.

My recommendation would be a colorful minigrip or a lightweight blue manix 2.

The OP said he wanted a left hand liner lock knife. Unfortunately that pretty much limits him to the Military, as I am not aware of any other left hand liner locks. Obviously CRK makes left hand frame locks, but they are priced WAY out of the range the OP said he is interested in. WAY out of my range as well, will never ever pay $400.00 for a knife. Anyhow, all of the knives out there that are truly ambidextrous use some other type of lock besides the liner lock.

Swiss Army lockblades like the sentinel are left handers. They have something like 36 locking models...most are built off the same general form and are basically left handed liner locks, there is a new model that I don't know how its set up. They are worth a look.

Take a look at the CRKT M21-02GL.

It is a lefty liner lock at the price you're looking at although not as "pretty" as a Skyline and it only comes in black. You could get one and send it out to a knife pimper to have some colored scales made.

There are Emerson liner locks, though they seem pretty uncommon/rare and snapped up quickly when they are available. They are also a bit more expensive than the current prices for the discontinued left handed Military.

So not true, the lock is a right lock that lefty's will need to adapt to and the cutout for thumb stud deployment is less on the left side making it harder to deploy...

Not enough to notice in real use. I'm a southpaw, and carry one daily since they came out, and have used RAT I's for years. No issues for southpaws with either.

I have the 1 as well, its easier to deploy than the 2. As a lefty, who has and carried the 2 I cant recommend it... But to each their own...
