Okay…
First off, DON’T PANICK!!!!
All numbered SnG’s are hand fit one of a kind pieces. Most need a small break in.

Here is a step by step of how you break in an SnG.
1. Use it. The thing BEGS to be used.
2. The first hundred or so times you open the knife, open it using the proper folder opening technique. This technique is taught by Mr Steve Tarani at all of his folder classes. Here it goes, very basic; Hold the knife in your strong side hand blade down. Using your weak side hand, reach to the strong side and snap the blade open strong and solid. I recommend doing it as a drill. Put the knife wherever you carry it, and practice, slow at first. Pull the knife, open the knife, and prepare to use the knife. Weather your cutting something or someone, get used to deploying your knives in this way. Only good to be prudent.
3. If after using this technique for a few hundred openings, feel free to one hand your knife or whatever. It is ready to serve at will.
3a. Alternate to this is to sit in front of your TV watching Gladiator and slam the thing open a bunch of times.

If after all of this, you are having issues, please contact us, not your dealer.

The lock design of the SnG is very strong. But it is also designed to be fairly easy to dis-engage. Your lock is solid and strong no matter how deeply it sits. From just inside the blade, to all the way inside the blade, it is locked and strong. Even if you beat it to the point where it is a wobble factory, the lock will not fail.
More on this later.

Have fun

"Hold the knife in your strong side hand blade down. Using your weak side hand, reach to the strong side and snap the blade open strong and solid."

I'm confused...

How do you "snap the blade open strong and solid" with 2 hands? Using either of the thumb studs on my AR, which I'd imagine would be harder to open than a SnG, I can easily "snap the blade open strong and solid" with one (either) hand...

BTW Mick, I sent you an email regarding my AR...

L.O.
Did you send it to the shop or to me? Because i didn't get it.

Don't get confused. It is easy.
The AR/GB has a lot of weight to toss the blade out using centrifugal force.
The SnG has a smaller less bulky blade; there is no inertia to force it to lock. (at first).
You need for break the lock in by solidly opening the knife about one hundred times. Then it will thumb open and lock solid.
Some work great right off the get go, most require a break in. Im sure I could have someone in the shop do the break in, but what fun is that for the owners of a brand new toy?

HMMMM????

M. Strider lock problems already with the just released SNG?!?!

I can't believe you would sell a folder with flaws! One that does not work right when you get it??? And you just paid 400.00 for the damn thing!

Lets see if I have this right

1a. Lock failures to engadge {Saftey issue}

2a. Lock failure to remain open i.e. closes real easy! {Saftey issue}

3a. A 400 dollar folder with design flaws reminds me of the AR GB discussions we had.

4a. As off yet undisclosed G-10 slab failure, a piece of G10 shaped that way will splinter and crack under lateral stress.

$400 dollars for a folder that does not work from the box correctly is an insult to consumers. So lets see if I get called more names or are you willing to discuss the design flaws NOW?

There are product and consumer saftey laws in California and Attorny Generals who love this stuff. Be careful if you bought an SNG.

Another point: Profit seems to be Striders only bottom line here.

After taking out dealer mark up 280.00 times say 800 SNG's out there leaves profits of around 160,000.00 to 170,000.00 range taking out for shop overhead.

Not to bad guys!

Now if the thing would work right. I am open to dicuss some of these problems here on the forum.

Or you can revert to your usual and Call me names some more.

People need to find out about this stuff before they wash $400.00 down the drain for a flawed non working AR/GB and now SNG

How many links will I find now with SNG problems?????

As far as I'm concerned mine is $400 well spent.

The SnG is a real winner in my book.

Why dont you grow the F*** up and find a hobby. Go out once in a while get some air, try movin out of your Moms house and livin in the real world. You know I am really getting tired of little a**holes like you always wastin space and taking up air. Boy ain't technology great it allows little anonymous jerkoffs like you to run your mouth all day then hide behind a power switch. Why dont you try acting like a man for once in your life and move on to a knife that you like, and stop bothering us Strider Fans,
Chris

Back again huh Swenson? It appears that no one on this forum is interested in your opinion or negativity. Why don't you just hang it up and try another forum? You don't seem to be accomplishing much on this one! This post also applies to you latter "Open Letter" to the forum. You really seem to have an axe to grind with Strider Knives:mad:

GSwen,

If the Strider line of edged tools appear to be a bad value to you, you have the choice to not buy them.

If you find the Strider AR/GB and SnG to be inferior in design and construction, you have the freedom to abstain from owning one.

It is as simple that.

I would add that if the Strider tools performance was found lacking, users will switch to another manufacturer that offers a design that does perform. Regardless, this phenomena will occur independent of your interaction.

That is all.

and my stomach turns...

Mick, I've got to say something. It's sick puppies like this guy that make me PROUD and THANKFUL that I live in a capitalist country where I have the freedom to VOTE with my money.

Yesterday I pre-ordered a SnG from Matt D. I'm voting with my money. YOU have my vote!

Why don't they ban this clown? This is obvious trolling. I'd love to log in and rip on him daily but that'd just get him off even more.

As it is, every time he gets a rise out the forum he probably spackles his keyboard.

Hey Chris, You gotta stop holding back so much. Why don't you quit sugar coating it and tell him what you really think:D Hope all is well there buddy!.....Kurt

Gary,
Please post the link to the tests that you conducted to prove that the G-10 will splinter and crack. I would like to see it please. You say you have proof, well lets see it.

I am going to go out on a limb here and say that you did not conduct any tests. And don't post some "email" from some un-named person saying that they did such a test and that the knife failed. That may fool someone like you, but please.

It seems like you are looking for attention. Maybe your mommy did not let you suck her tit long enough or your daddy (if you know him) didn't say he loved you, but come on. I am sure there is some other way to get attention. Maybe I am wrong, maybe you are just jealous. But why don't you design a make a better knife that everyone would want to buy and contribute something positive to the world. But my guess is that you won't. Because people like you won't do that.

I truely feel sorry for you.

Yah I know, but the good news is with all the money I will save now that I'm going to stop buying all those faulty STRIDERS, I will be able to afford those Anger Management Classes..... :grumpy:........ :D ....
I feel better already,
Hope alls well with you too,
Chris

1a: There's just a break-in period. Matt D caught my "WTF, this lock ain't engaging" stare when I handled one yesterday, and he let me know that it needs a little breaking in for the surfaces to fit each other. You might want to say something about this being inefficient and a sign of cheap finishing at Strider, but as Mick said, the locking surfaces will mate after the short break-in period. Use it and it will love you back.

2a. It closes really easily when you apply pressure in the right direction. You have to be purposefully disengaging the lock. Otherwise, during normal use, I doubt a framelock is going to be unintentionally disengaged. Also, an easy opening (while having a strong lockup) is a sign of good design. If you dislike an SnG, maybe you should try handling a nice custom knife with these qualities. Elishewitz comes to mind.
