I currently am in finals week for the semester and have had a huge amount of work to finish. Today I have to take 3 serious tests and needed most of the night to study and catch up on some work. Earlier in the day, while looking for some old notes, I found a couple scraps of leather. These pieces were too small to do anything other than make a sheath for my Magnum Bear Cub, so during my breaks from school work tonight I got working on the sheath...
The end result is a useable, 1/4 way decent looking leather sheath for my MBC. It probably added up to around 2 hours of work total. While it isn't the best looking sheath, it holds the blade nice and snug...so snug that I may decide against putting a little snap-strap around the handle as it may be overkill for something so small.
I don't know any proper sheath making techniques, although I do know how to measure, make holes, and stitch and it sounded like a fun diversion anyway. There are some elements of the design that needed some improvisation because of mishaps with the exacto knife and caffeine induced hand-tremors
I definitely wouldn't have made the belt loop part of it so narrow, but I just kept messing up with the xacto knife right there
I also apologize for the pictures as my hands are still a bit shaky from the mix of caffeine and sleep deprivation.
I still haven't even decided if I'm going to keep the MBC yet, but something compelled me to make it a sheath anyway, so here it is:
I'm calling this a set of shorts for my MBC as I don't think it's classy looking enough to be considered a pair of formal pants
Not the cleanest work ever, but I am satisfied with its functionality for now...
Anyway, I need to get back to work...only two hours left before my first test!
Have a great day everyone
