I noticed that whenever we get a survivla movie thread going, several people list Death Hunt with Chrales Bronson as a favorite, I noticed it on tongiht on AMC at 9pm central time, just thought I would give a heads up.

I remember seeing this as a kid, all I can remember is the wolf/dog that he saves. I don't remember the rest. I have been looking for this on DVD, anybody know if it's out on DVD? :D

i liked a cry in the wild because i loved the book hatchet and the movie is based on it. first blood had some good survival stuff in it, and i know im gunna get it for this but the hunted is honestly a favorite,(i just dont see what everyone hates about it)i think im just kinda biased to the movies flaws because tom brown was the technical advisor, and it reminds me of first blood which is a movie i grew up with. and ya cant foget that tommy lee jones is in it, hes a really good actor.

The Hunted is a great movie. I wish there were more modern movies with some type of wilderness survival theme. The Edge is probably one of the best because the knife he carries is closer to what someone would have on them at the time. (THough if I went up in a little puddle jumper in the middle of nowhere, I'd have a LOT more gear!)

The Edge ROCKS! That has become one of my favorite movies.

Wish they would do a DVD special addition with a ton of extras.

I would love to see some of the training they did for The Edge. The extras on the Hunted aned Castaway had great training background.

A good kid friendly movie for kids to get interested in and learn some skills is Far From Home: The adventures of Yellow Dog. Made in the 90's and it wasn't too bad. A teenager and his Yellow Lab get stranded on the Canadian coast. My 6 year old loves it and now has a keen interest in the outdoors and daddy's "little hobby" as my wife likes to call it.

i saw parts of Death Hunt, it looked pretty good. reminds me of that jack london story. (was it jack london?) i think it was called to make a fire... or something.

"To Build A Fire"...after you read it, you will never trust matches alone for your survival kit again!

I litterally felt COLD while reading it.

You've got that right, T.L.C.! I don't know how many people I've convinced to read London's short story, "To Build A Fire"... and not one has ever had anything but the same reaction you (and I) had. It made you feel cold, just reading it!

I read an article in Outdoor Life about survival kits, the author mentioned the Jack London story, so I went and got a volume of London off the shelf and read the story sitting in the cafe of my local Barnes & Noble, with a cup of coffee, and I swear I was literally shivering by the end!

London's vivd description of the COLD in the story makes you feel like you are right there.
