I am looking for a good multiple purpose machete mainly as a survival tool. It should have good thickness and a decent length to it. Also if anyone can tell me how to post pictures that would be great too.
The BladeForums.com 2024 Traditional Knife is available! Price is $250 ea (shipped within CONUS).
Order here: https://www.bladeforums.com/help/2024-traditional/
Although Junglas has removable scales and some strange tool on the bottom... Helpful maybe?
Um. A 9" 3/16" thick knife is not a machete guys.Really its not. It might be cool, but it's not a machete.
I've been happy with my cold steel machetes though I don't like the "scandi" grind on them, and I know guys who really really like their Ontario machetes, it seems like everybody around here has one in their truck. I've also heard very good things about condor machetes. I've not owned any of their machetes but I have owned a couple of their knives and have been happy with them. Also, I've found that most inexpensive machetes come with no edge, so expect to sharpen them out of the box, I use a fine bastard file on mine. (condor machetes should come with a polished convex edge like their knives)
For a machete to work well it should be pretty thin, 1/8" or 3/32" should be about right, and it should be pretty long, 18-24" is about right in my book. YMMV
You trying the get the Beckerheads mad? lol I agree though its not a machete.....it's a chopper!!
Svord Kiwi would be my choice unless its purely for the jungle or thin vegitation.
How did you do that?
