I just saw Madagascar, and I was VERY pleasantly surprised, also, I saw Hoodwinked (little Red Riding Hood) and I enjoyed that one as well. I'd give them both a B+ No, these don't compare to a good action or drama, but hell, they are fun, and even geared toward adults as much as they are toward kids.
Which ones have you enjoyed lately? I saw Wallace and Grommit and I give it a B-, both of the above movies were better.
I am curious about the chicken little movie, Ice Age 2 and
Over the Hedge, and others. Anyone?
Thanks.

Finding Nemo is good. And while not animated, Stuart Little movies are pretty good simply because Geena Davis is in them... YUM!

They aren't really new but I highly recommend Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust, Hellsing series, Cowboy Bebop: Knockin on heaven’s door, Ghost in the Shell, Ninja Scroll and even Animatrix.

I'd also like to add Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Blood: the Last Vampire, Last Exile (series). If it's CGI you're after I'd recommend Appleseed and Kaena.

The Incredibles is one of my favs. I thought Madagascar kinda blew. Most overtly kiddie oriented cartoons bore me. I like ones that have double entendres to keep the parents interested.

Check Out "Over the Hedge." Cute enough for the kiddies, but some fun over acting from William Shatner and Steve Carell.

I was roped into seeing Cars last weekend with my family.

It was cute, and it did hold my attention the whole movie.

One of Disney/Pixar's best, IMHO.

I liked Akira. I also liked the Blood the last vampire, but it was too short. I like well animated movies with decent storylines. The Recent Final Fantasy movie had great visuals & animation, but the story and most of the action was utterly stupid.
I watched wallace & grommit, liked it ok, Liked the Shrek movies, Never have been totally dissatisfied with a big budget CGI movie. They might not be my favorites, but Good enough to watch all the way through.

I also liked some of the Spawn Series (cartoons)

over the hedge was good, cars was excellent and ice age 2 was funny too. I have a 7 year old....

Chicken run if you havent already seen it. Its made by the same people as Wallace and Gromit I think.

I loved Madagascar for the quotable stuff. If I get caught with a big bowl of choco ice cream I just say to my wife

"You didnt see anything"

If I screw something up she says, "Can you read?" It has to be one of the best fun movies for stuff like that. I havent seen anything since Austin Powers for such great lines.

Can't wait to see Ice Age two as well, I'm just not sure about paying $18.00 at the local flix here. Probably wait until its on DVD.

been a toon freak forever-
not sure good animation has to be part of a good animated movie-just look at the beevis & buthead movie-great flic with poor animation-

hoodwinked was very adult and i enjoyed it-chicken little was average at best imho-

the early walace and gromet were the best -
of coarse i have a big soft spot for ren & stimpy-south park

I've finally gotten around to watching most of those big Hollywood animated movies I missed in the past 4-5 years, and I thought the first Shrek was by far the best of the bunch (alongside the South Park movie :D), though the Incredibles was up there. Still have to watch Wallace and Grommit, and the Corpse Bride.

Also have been doing the Japanese thing, and renting all of those animated films that I'm supposed to have watched. I've been a big fan of cyberpunk lit. so it's been interesting.

Can recommend: Ghost in the Shell (the first movie), Jin-Roh (alternate title is 'The Wolf Brigade', definitely not a children's movie), Avalon (part animated/part live), pretty much anything that Mamoru Oshii's had to do with. Also any Hayao Miyazaki film. Hayao Miyazaki's work with maybe just a couple exceptions is great for children, Mamoru Oshii's stuff is generally adult oriented.

Other than that, Harvey Krumpet was good too.

I thought the Corpse Bride was really boring. Do a search for it's reviews before you rent it.

I'll third or 4th "The Incredibles", I also liked both the "Toy Story" movies and "A Bug's Life". Stick around until the end for the "out takes" on all of those. Oh, and "Monsters, Inc" has a lot of fun stuff in it as well.

Another Miyazaki film, Castle In The Sky, was great.

Lilo and Stitch was very funny and had some catchy music.

Samurai X Trust and Betrayal (or were they OAV's?), Patlabor movies, Miyazaki's stuff, Jin-Roh, Vampire Hunter D, Memories, Perfect Blue, You're Under Arrest, Ghost in the Shell, Tenchi Muyo films, Akira, Eskaflowne and Armitage are the ones that come to mind first (you could add Key the Metal Idol, Cowboy Bebop series, Vampire Princess Miyu, Mini-pato and a bunch of stuff if you don't limit it to movies).

Also, as far as the Incredibles goes, if you missed Jack, Jack Attack on the second DVD of the set (only available on DVDs.....) You're missing the funniest 3 minutes in cartoon history.
