This is a little off topic, but I am excited and wanted to share this info with as many people as I could. I found out today, that out of over 700 applicants I was selected to one of the 24 spots available to attend Nursing school! Needless to say, we are all happy here! I am an EMT now, and my wife has been an RN for 5 years, so I should be able to complete the program.:D It is an 18 month program and that will make me an LPN. I will then work for a year or so full time, and after that I will go to part time and will go to a program that allows LPN to move up to RN's! That was the good news.

The bad news is that this is a five day a week (sometimes six) program and I am not going to be able to work while I am in school. The school is also going to be expensive so.....I am not going to be buying any more knives for quite a while.(except that desert AS:p )
School starts in Aug. so after that I might not be around here as much, but I will still pop in on the weekends and sometimes late at night. I know that this isn't real big news to everyone, but I really do consider these forums a community, and I wanted to share. Thanks for taking the time to read this. And to Jerry: Please stop production of ALL Busse knives until I give the green light. That way, I won't miss anything! :p :D Yeah Right!:D :D Also, I am 30:barf: but I will get to hang out with a few 18-20 year old girls who are going to need the benefit of my medical knowledge.;) If my wife sees that I will need a place to stay, and some one to get all the Busses out of my back (and other places too:eek: )

Congrats Alpha! That's terrific news. Good luck with your future endeavors and with those younger women... er.. uh, your wife.

And when you feel you might need some extra cash, you can pawn a few of those great blades you have with me.:D :D :D

Good choice. Time and money spent on education is never wasted. Nurses are in high demand here in CT as I'm sure they are there. I'm sure it will lead to a great and fulfilling career.
Good Luck Bill, KX1A

Great News! Have you asked Jerry about the INFI suture removing kit? Pretty sweet!

Congrats AlphaBoar!!!! That is quite an accomplishment. You better be nice to your wife so that she'll help you with your homework!!!;)

Way to go!!!!

Jerry

Congrats Bro! That's great news!!!! I know how you feel about this forum. It's like family. I personally have never been involved as much on any forum as I have on this one. You'll still be checking in on weekends, and just think how many knives you'll be able to buy after you graduate!! :)

Congrats man!! Money spent on education today instead of Busses is more money later to spend on Busses ;)

Still trying to picture him in one of those little white hats.
Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Congrats buddy! I myself am an EMT, it's a long row to hoe, but worth it! What you are doing is very rewarding, the fact that you will be helping your fellow man.

I'm sure you will be able to sneak a peak at whats going on here!

Try to stick around, it won't be the same with out you!

Congrats!
I agree with you on this community. Thanks for sharing and GOOD LUCK !!!

oh and don't be a stranger :)

Thanks for all the kind words and encouragement. I'm sure that someone will step up to the trough in my place, but once I graduate...LOOKOUT!! I'll be needing a huge fix and I'll have the cash to do it!:D :D I'll still be around. Mostly whining about how I can't get the latest such and such super Busse, but when it's all said and done, I just might have to get a graduation CUSTOM! Maybe "the man" himself will grind on it a little. We can call it the "Yeah, I'm a male Nurse. So what'cha wanna make of it" bowie or something like that. And I'll have to have that INFI suture removal kit. Thanks again guys, this kind of comradery is what this place and dare I say this Company is all about.

p.s. The guys don't have to wear the white hats, but I might see if I can find one and pose for you guys:barf: ;) OK. Nobody deserves that:p

Congrats. Man, always had a thang for the wimmins in white...

I envy you. Hope you are strong willed (to make it through the torture of the training of course...LOL)...

Good luck and congratulations! I'm a paramedic and my wife is in school for her Masters in Nursing right now. It's a pain while you are going, but worth it in the long haul.

Radomvis, check hospitals, community colleges, or adult education centers for EMT courses. Total course time is probably less than 150 hours (it was a lot less when I went 20 years ago). A lot of the course is kind of advanced first aid, plus some advanced skills depending on what state you are in.
