The good news is the knife made it to me on time. It arrived yesterday.

The bad news is I had asked for a non~flipper. . .:D

It's OK, Rob is going to hook me up with a nice non~flipper version with a Marsh colored scale when they get back from SHOT. At least I got to handle it and see the knife in person so now I can appreciate what I'm getting even more.

These knives are incredible but hey, I'm preaching to the choir here.:o

You need both, unless you already a flipper. And if you do you can never have to many Hinderer Flippers :p

I'm not a flipper fan but I would buy this one in a heartbeat if I could get it in addition to the non-flipper.

Is that a sterile blade? Is it CTS-XHP, S35VN or Duratech 20CV? It's a 3.5" XM-18 right?

Yes, it is an XM-18, 3.5". There isn't a mark on the blade so now you have me guessing as to the blade steel as well.

Just figure out a way to keep it. One of both is the way to go.

Thrill,

Like I said, I wish I could but the rules say one per customer so I am fine with that. I'm just happy and grateful for the opportunity to be able to buy one at all. Maybe next time. . . ;)

Besides, it's like I wrote to Rob. I'm not a big fan of flippers. I don't see any real world practical advantage to them. I don't like the way they project away from the knife; you can't come down flat on a level surface because of the flipper extending below the blade when slicing.

It takes up valuable real estate in a cramped pocket and it is just one more thing to get hung up on. I can deploy the blade just as fast with the thumbstuds and it basically locks my hand into place on the grip behind the blade, which some might correctly view as a safety issue, but I view as a disadvantage because I prefer the ability to move my hand or adjust my grip as I see fit. And besides all that, I don't like the way they look.

All of the above is purely personal opinion and in no way meant to disparage either the design or its fans; and besides, despite everything I wrote, if I had the opportunity to buy this knife I would do it in a heartbeat!

Not really, he just got a good blade shot and it had no marking on it. I wanted to confirm if he knew what it was. I sure liked that DT 20CV a lot. :)

Hey Guys,

I wasn't around for that one so I'm a little confused. Do I even want to know? :o

Those are nice pics, thanks for taking the time to post, and to publicly point out our mistake.

If it is unmarked, it is 20CV. I don't think he cares much since he is sending it back though. To keep you updated, his replacement non-flipper will be CTS-XHP.

Rob...c'mon man.....I don't even know how to respond to that. :o Nobody's trying to do anything, I love you guys (if you can remove any sexual connotation to that remark :D )

Chuck, I never said you were "trying to do anything", I'm just keeping the info flowing, and having some fun.

Rob,

I don't know what just happened here but for the record, I'd like to publicly apologize if this post came off as any sort of criticism of you or your company. That thought never even crept into my mind when I created this thread.

I'm a little confused too. I hope you don't think I meant any harm of any kind with my post. On the contrary, I was so excited to just get my hands on the knife that I wanted to share the pics with fellow forumites just to spur some fun discussion. Lord knows I have no else in my real life to discuss these sorts of things with.

I will happily remove my post if it offends you or any other of our Hinderer fans. Like I said, I greatly appreciate the support you guys give to the LE community.

Yes I do care that it is 20 CV. This is all new to me so I didn't know. Like I said I will be very happy to keep this one, flipper or no flipper. If it's ok with you we'll just do that.

Again, thank you guys for all you do and thanks to all my fellow forum members for giving me a place to participate and share in my love for fine knives. Please let me know if you want me to remove my original post.

George
