Well, the good news is that i recieved a Kobra.
Even better is that i recieved it while the passaround WW2 model was still here, giving me a chance to really compare these two styles.

This whole event has been overshadowed by the bad news...

Somebody decided to vandalize my car.
They tried to steal it, but only succeeded in breaking sh*t. This caused me alot of grief since all my locks are damaged. These locks are rediculously expensive, and the mounting areas are also trashed.

I would've posted a review/comparison of both models by now, but i've been trying to repair the damage as well as suppress my anger and frustration. I'll write up something soon.

Anytime i'm just a little bit closer to getting ahead, something comes up from behind, slaps ya upside the head, and makes ya say "WTF!"

Sounds like a lot of us have had that kind of a week. Sorry to hear about the bad news. You know, at one time I thought I had a pretty good experiential knowledge base. But I contiue to be caught offguard by the antics of human beings. Well, if you ever find out who did it, be sure to call their parents and thank them for doing such a great job. Apple...tree. The coorelation is indisputable.

Sorry to hear your car was vandalized! I had the same thing happen years ago but that was on a piece of junk '62 Chevy. Don't know what they thought I was keepin' in the car but he/she wasn't to bright anyway. My glove box wasn't locked but they tore it apart from under the dash!:D
As long as the GOOD out weighs the BAD , you'll do OK! Now let's hear about your review/comparison!

Hang in there. That bites to put it mildly. Hope that you enjoy the Kobra and that it takes a little bit of the sting out of the problems with the cars.

what really gets me is that i have a 93 Tracker, which for all intent and purpose, is a rolling piece of crap. Why in the hell would someone want that??? The only thing i can figure is these were complete novices (damage attests to that) and they were looking for a vehicle without an alarm. Mine is about the oldest crap on the street.

I have a hard time getting anything decent, and when i do , somebody has to smash it. Whats the point? Why do we work so hard and sacrifice so much to have nice things, when someone just comes along and steals it?

Bad week? no, more like a trying existance in a lousy world.

It's probably the same bunch of guys who like to write viruses. My Dad's (and me, too) got a choice name for these kind of guys which is unprintable in this forum. I never said I was a good Buddhist.

I take great consolation from the fact that both Yin and Yang are necessary in Nature's process...

and that KARMA is a Mother(~youknowwhat)

Tao Te Ching - Lao Tzu - chapter 42

The Tao begot one.
One begot two.
Two begot three.
And three begot the ten thousand things.

The ten thousand things carry yin and embrace yang.
They achieve harmony by combining these forces.

For one gains by losing
And loses by gaining.

What others teach, I also teach; that is:
"A violent man will die a violent death!"
This will be the essence of my teaching.

add another translation:

42. THE TRANSFORMATIONS OF THE TAO

The Tao existed before its name,
and from its name, the opposites evolved,
giving rise to three divisions,
and then to names abundant.

These things embrace receptively,
achieving inner harmony,
and by their unity create
the inner world of man.

No man wishes to be seen
as worthless in another's eyes,
but the wise leader describes himself this way,
for he knows that one may gain by losing,
and lose by gaining,
and that a violent man
will not die a natural death.

Yes Gonzo, that's all true. However it still sucks.
It was probably some kids looking for a joy ride. happened to me twice.

That's when you wonder what would have happened if you had put a dozen or so coon tail rattlers minus the rattles, in the car for the night.:grumpy:

I realize this may seem obvious,
however, make sure you contact the police.
Most of the time, they may drive by a bit more often and scare off those damned kids.

Thats a nice thought to think Walking man.

However~

Buffalo is a bankrupt city.
The police here, are not even "real" police.
They are not only few in number, but so few in numbers, that they are now down to one per cruiser (opposed to two cops per car) so as to seem more effective.

This is the only city in the US that i know of, where a cop cannot transfer to another jurisdiction/city, without having to go to school. Buffalo's cops are not considered "up to snuff" as are normal police. I do not know why this is. This is a *real* city, with a large population, and much *real* crime... but we don't have *real* cops.

I listen to a scanner all the while i'm awake. You've got a minimum 4 HOUR wait before your call will be dispatched.

This police farce, er, force... is so pathetic, they beg State troopers to come in and help. They don't really bother.

You can get away with quite literally anything here.

Reminds me of "Dial 911, wait 30 minutes and die". That's about the way it works where I live.

Gonzo, Maybe I can make you feel a little better knowing my bad luck.

I had ........
one new work van stolen with approx 15k of tools, insurance paid 8k, not even enough to pay off the loan,

another van broken into, all the tools stolen, couldn't go to work the next day,

had a 325 quicny air compressor stolen out of my truck,

had my new F250 window broke, clothes stolen, my work briefcase stolen with important papers, and my beloved colt Cobra stolen too.

I've had people break into my shop and steal, my son's house was broken into and "my" guns stolen, had people break into my garage and steel my personal tools.

I pity a theif I catch stealing. He will pay for everyone who stole from me. It will be a slow and painful death, probably take days to die. The military taught me many things, mostly bad.

Sams, sadly theres no way to prevent it, unless you park it in a fortress, and while at a job site keeping it in plain sight (of yourself) at all times.

Here they take work trucks to the cleaners in a flash, whether it's locked or not. You'll have your back turned for a few minutes and *poof* trucks empty.

I found out that a certain group of vandals hit my landlord's girl's car two streets over and ganked her amp. Same method they tried on my car. Somehow it was a bit of a relief knowing it was'nt a direct "targeting" of me, since i have no issues with anyone on the street.

So we've got a couple of "gangstas" going street by street looking for stuff to steal. How nice. If i catch them, i'll probably be the one doing the time

If you do manage to get your hands on the bastards, give 'em hell. Theives and vandals are scum, oxygen thieves and worse.

I guess there is little hope for us who follow the law. There is three things I detest, theifs, lawyers, and insurance people. They are all useless.

The sad part is...

The people who really seem to get ahead in this world, do so by screwing others. And hey, perfect examples are Insurance agents, Lawyers, and Thieves.

We struggle along, trying to get by and have a few nice things, while the above are out there tryin to take it away.

That all depends on what your definition of getting ahead is. Think of how often crooks get shot or end up in jail, and what their social quality of life is in the meantime. Same with others whose chosen profession screws other people over. Karma is real; while the screwers of the world seem to 'get ahead' in the short term, materialistic sense, the givers of the world like Uncle Bill and the rest of us in the Cantina lead far better and happier lives.
