Good non-disposable respirator?

I've been doing a bit of auto-body work (for those if you who helped me out in my last thread about bondo'ing the SAAB, it came out great!), and I'm in the market for a real respirator, not just a dust mask (or worse-nothing). I'm sure the dust mask and wet-sanding will help with a lot of paint, metal, fiberglass, and polymer dust, but I'd feel a little more comfortable spending around $50 for something that will do the job better. If anyone knows of a good product I'd really appreciate it.

3m makes a wide array of such products. they have interchangable cartridge masks for organic vapors etc...as well as particulate ones.

i remember seeing a painting mask that had a n95 filter that fit over a organic vapor cartridge. it was not full face though

Go to an auto body supplier and ask them to recommend one. All respirators are not the same, nor are all canisters (filters) the same. Get the proper one for the proper use.

I have a paint and solvent suitable half mask for finishing work and a full face with pesticide and herbicide graded cans for when we spray inside homes.

Hey Needle I have been a Paint Rep for 15 yrs. 3m makes a great mask,part#7192,this mask and all others will NOT... protect you from Iso.Please have a T.D.S. book and don't for get use your head. A good mask will fit your face, buy a few different sizes and buy from a reputable jobber not a Home Ripoff. Please take extream care of your self when Painting. Good Luck!

I use a Resp-O-Rator with the HEPA filters. It fits under my welding helmet and works great with a full face shield for grinding. Draws the air in from behind you. Filters are back there too where the air is cleaner.

It is for particulates though --- not paint fumes.

Costs about $50.00 and new filters are about $8.00.

I just don't like those masks and things straped to my face. They fogg my glasses and push them upward too.
