Good physique for neck knife carry?

I ordered my first neck knife today. My question is...how can I put this? Do you need a flat stomach to facilitate neck knife carry? I guess I'll find out soon enough. Let's not get into too much gorey detail, but I would think a large belly would cause discomfort or work against concealed carry etc. I am 5' 11" and 250 lbs with an average belly. I suppose I could shorten the chain up and not have it hang down that far. Knife content: I ordered a small neck knife from running dog called the little camper. Web page pics at runningdogknife@bigstep.com. It is a 2.125 inch blade. It can also be carried IWB with a "G-clip". I'm not a big IWB fan but at least the knife is small. I'd really have problems if it was a 8 or 9 inch OAL.

I think that most of us guys aren't used to have something that long in our pants...

Rest assured...A little fellow like yourself will have NO trouble hiding a smaller neck knife

I'm....let's say..... a few inches taller than you and a few pounds heavier too!!!!
I carry neck knives all the time up to 7.5" in length.

You should have no trouble carrying a neck knife. As I recall, the first neck knife I had was a Lynn Griffith Patrolman. It worked well as long as I was wearing my botton down, or other 'heavier' shirts. I did run into a problem however with t-shirts. I do have a bit of a gut, and it would cause the handle to poke out a bit, making it appear as though I had a growth on my stomach

Easily fixed though, when I shortened the cord about an inch or so, the problem went away completly. So, I would think neck knives can be easily adapted to just about anyone.

I'm built just about like you described yourself.

Sometimes when I'm bored, I carry my Cold Steel Trail Master Bowie as MY "neck knife", but I REALLY have to be careful when bending down while sitting!.

im a BIG guy for a teenager, but my stiff kiss rides comfortably around my neck.under the right shirt its invisible, and with a sweater the ball chain i have mine on is invisible too.i wouldnt worry too much,it'll work out.

Thanks to all, this was a little tounge in cheek, but I was wondering what you all did. So it's safe to say I shouldn't use my Battle Mistress as a neck knife though?

Ah, I hate to bring this up, but for the distaff forumites, an abundance of, er, ah...cleavage

facilitates the hiding of a neck knife. I remember Mrs. Mad Dog (Saint Teryl) at KNIFEGNUGEN. She had a small MD she wore outside her sweater, and I recall thinking that she could probably conceal a machete underneath the sweater!

You shouldn't have any problems...

The flatwrapped Little Camper is very thin and weighs only a few ounces...anything more than a t-shirt will hide it and you may find yourself forgetting you have it on!

Happens to me all the time..."Damn, I need a knife...Oh I'm wearing one!"

I carry a R.E.K.A.T. Utility Neck Knife. Concealing it under a buttoned shirt is no problem even with my extra kilos (besides the occasional clunk of the knife hitting the table, plus with my bad shirt the grip does tend to stick out between the buttons if I'm not careful - but I hate using that shirt anyway). But I do get headaches sometimes... (I seem to get those easily if my neck muscles get tense. A combination of bad desks and the neck knife can do that sometimes... Too bad I haven't figured out a good way to carry the knife discreetly with the belt clip without leaving my shirt untucked.)

Adjust the length of the chain or necklace to find the spot that works for you. Don't go to big for a neck knife.

You can adjust the chain length for the area you would like it to be suspended at.I myself have a large stomach, lots of pasta helped build

anyway I have carried many a neck knife without discomfort or access problems.I currently carry a Bud Nealy 4 inch Y2K and I love it and the knife does not stick out because of my stomach.
