Good place to get knives sharpened in the US?

I know that knowing how to sharpen your own knives is a valuable skill and all, but I don't use knives often enough to make a sharpener a worthwhile investment (I collect knives because I like them, so in a sense 99% of my collection are just fondling/admiring knives). To put things in perspective, I've been EDCing a Spyderco Tenacious for over a year and only now am I becoming concerned that its factory edge is getting too dull (can't shave hair, has trouble slicing some kinds of paper). In other words, I wouldn't need to sharpen a knife often enough to get any real practice and the cost of a decent sharpener alone would be enough to cover 2-3 years worth of a sharpening service at the rate my knives lose an edge. I'm also not too gifted with my hands...the only reason I passed wood shop was because I aced the safety exams and I nearly failed my drafting classes as well (yet I still have zero problems building computers when each component potentially costs hundreds of dollars...hmm). I just don't think I ave the aptitude for something like this. So given the community, I know people will still want to suggest me investing in a sharpening system, but I'm just not interested on that so let's please resist that urge, k? ;)

Anyway, this situation has left me in need of a good place to send knives to be sharpened in the US. Specifically, I'd like to get my Spyderco Tenacious sharpened. I also might want to get a Spyderco Rock Salt sharpened. Though it probably wouldn't get too much use either, it's also one I would want to get sharpened if I ever used it. For both knives, I'd want a service that is able to get a nice, sharp edge without removing more metal than necessary and one that won't have any trouble preserving the Rock Salt's recurve edge.

I know Spyderco resharpens knives, nutnfancy swears by John Fitzen at Razor's Edge (say that you will about nutnfancy, but at least he admits that he's not good at sharpening either), and I'm sure that there are members on here that can do this sort of thing as well.

Can anyone offer any recommendations and/or share experiences with any specific service that would be able to sharpened the knives I mentioned?

richardj is the go-to man for sharpening services. His work is unparalleled and very quick turn-around.

I too need the service for mostly the same reasons. Good thread and thanks for the recommendation. I too, will be in contact with richardj.
