So hey guys, my names Jordan! Nice to meet you all. Relatively new on the forums here and completely new to traditional folders so I'm wondering if you guys can give me some info on a certain Case Russlock. I've never really been into the traditional style knife, but as of late, something about them has finally got me intrigued and I'm looking to get my first nice "traditional" style pocket knife. Plus I would like something a bit less intimidating than my pocket sword of an edc I tend to carry, so I can use it in more public scenarios without anyone raising their eyebrows or thinking I'm a knife murderer. I think I've for sure settled on getting a Russlock as it seems like the perfect size for me to slip in my watch pocket and I love the design and lines of the knife, it's very unique. My favorite color for my knives for whatever reason happens to be orange and after some digging I found that Case made a now discontinued orange G10 version of the Russlock and it is by far my favorite version of them I have seen so far, but I've had trouble finding one or finding what they have gone for price wise. Someone is selling a new never used one on ebay right now with a current price of $50 with one bid and two days left to go. I'm most likely going to bid on it but have no idea of a reasonable price on this one or how rare it is or what my chances of getting one for a better price would be. Any advice or info would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance.

I also really like the Northwoods Burnside Jack in blue (my other favorite color) camel bone, but those are proving hard to come by. But then I like how thin the Russlock blade is, I think it would be ideal for minor food prep which is one of the main things I love to use my knives for...I'm torn!

$50.00 seems to be about right for an orange G10 Russlock. Of course, if you are amenable to black G10, then $40.00 or so is typical.

Thank you! I probably wont bid more than $60. I really prefer the orange to the black though.

only have one that I bought my son years ago when he was a kid, neat knife and once ya get used to opening one they're just like any other knife, not saying it couldn't open in pocket but the one we have here has been carried around by my son and myself and never budged.
congrats on your getting into traditional knives

I have a number of Russlocks and I've never had one open in my pocket. They are pretty tightly closed with both the backspring and liner-lock applying pressure to the blade. In fact, it takes some practice to learn to open them easily.

$50-ish is a typical price for a new Russlock, or less depending on the handle material. If you like the pattern and want that handle material, that's a fair price.

How in the name of Thor's mighty Hawaiian shirt did it open in yer pocket?
Unless of course...?

I can't think of any way other than if I was -how can I put this without incurring modulation?
"manipulating it"? in the pocket.

Anyway it is not a pretty mental picture.

So. welcome aboard PinkmagicK.

I have 2 Russlocks neither of which open or close willingly by themselves.

I think the ebuy price for many used knives often approaches and sometimes exceeds(due to bidding frenzy) the cost of a brand new one.

I've carried one on and off for about 10 years and I've never had one accidentally open in my pocket Mark. It's pretty difficult the way it's set up, not impossible but highly improbable.

True story. You can believe it or not but it did happen.
I cant remember now if it was when I was putting it in or taking it out of my pocket.

Great looking knives I can tell you that.
Wish I wouldn't have sold the ones I had.

I currently have two Russlocks, a black G10 clip point model and a yellow drop point. Both great knives to be sure, but the drop point is much useful...of course that's just my opinion. You won't regret buying it if you get it sir, of that I'm sure...and a fair price is really whatever you're willing to pay for it. Good luck, and welcome to the forum.
